Perth receives plowing match The International Plowing Match will be coming to Perth County in 1972. Announcement was made at the Ontario Plowmen's Association convention in Toronto, attended by members of the Perth Plowmen's Association. The plowmen previously advised county council they have four prospective sites for the match. For the past year, they have been asking county and Stratford city councils to support them in efforts to bring The last International match in Perth was in 1930. SUNDAY SCHOOL MEETING Miss Jackie Lewis acted as secretary for a Sunday School meeting held at Brinsley United Church. J. TEMPLEMAN STAFFA In order to form a United Church Women's organization in the Hibbert United Church a meeting of the ladies of the congregation was held. Rev. A. H. Daynard, presided and opened the meeting with prayer. The following officers were elected: President, Miss Vera Hambley; first vice-president, Mrs. Ross McPhail; second vice-president, Mrs. Lloyd Barker; secretary, Mrs. Elmer Dow; assistant secretary, Mrs. Leslie Miller. Mrs. Murray Christie, Mrs. Harold Pethick and Mrs. Leslie Miller were appointed as a committee to nominate other officers. It was decided to hold meetings on the second Wednesday of each month. February 12 Mrs, A. H. Daynard and Mrs. Ross McPhail presided for the first meeting of the United Church Women held in the Family Life Centre. Scripture lesson was read by Mrs. Harvey Dow. A reading was given by Mrs. A. H. Daynard followed by a piano solo by Mrs. Robert McCaughey. Discussion groups were formed to talk about ways and means to plan meetings to make them both inviting and interesting for the coming year. Mrs. Ross McPhail gave a reading followed by business with the president, Miss Vera Hambley in charge. Roll call was answered with the payment of fees. Lunch was served by the hostesses, Mrs, John Hocking, Mrs. Walter 0:Brien and Mrs. Russell Miller. The remainder of the day was spent quilting. PERSONALS Alec Miller is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Mr. & Mrs. John Templeman visited Friday evening with Mr. & Mrs. Norman Dow. Linda and Randy Moore and Geraldine Templeman were among the students from Mitchell High School who participated in the Music Festival in Toronto, Friday.
