The Department will be asked to sanction Stephen road spending up to $128,500 of this amount $36,000 will be for construction and $92,500 for • maintenance costs. Last year the original request was $80,000 and a supplementary bylaw in the amount of $57,000 was allowed later in the year. We are merely concerned that this extension may present more problems than solutions,. There are many students who depend upon summer work to provide them with necessary supplies for the following year. This applies particularly to those intending on entering higher forms of education. However the administration has been quite liberal in lowering the recommendation rates and those who are really concerned about this loss will have a better chance to eliminate writing exams altogether, If the student body decides to take action on this issue it will be in the form of petitions of protests directed to the minister of education. It is refreshing to know that the community is showing an interest in its "young people", Barb Elliott 13B SHDHS Clerk Wein gave a report on the tile drain loans issued to Stephen farmers in 1969.
