Lions hear
Cub leader
The regular meeting of Lucan
and district Lions Club was held
at the Anglican Church Monday
with 68 percent attendance.
Gordon Froats, local Cub and
Scout master, spoke to the
members regarding activities of
the groups.
He reviewed the good
attendance record of past years.
In 1967 when the group was
formed the members enrolled
increased in numbers during the
year from 24 to 36, and at the
Cubaree, the Lucan troup
received the award for the best
attendance.
June, 1968 at a camp-out at
the Pinery there were 36 boys.
In September several boys too
old for cubs advanced to the
scout group. Since then the
attendance has been gradually
deteriorating until at the present
time the enrolment is down to
18.
Mr. Froats informed the club
that it is very difficult to get
assistant leaders and asked that
the members make every effort
to help him in this respect.
He stated that the increased
cost of an enrolment and
uniforms may discourage some
but the training which the boys
received should be well worth
the expense.
An executive meeting will be
called to discuss ways and means
to help.
A general business session was
held prior to adjournment.
