Thursday evening in Farquhar
Hall with nine tables of euchre
in play.
Prizes were won by ladies
high, Mrs. Carl Hume; ladies'

Lorne Passmore.
Lunch was served by the
committee in charge, Mr. & Mrs.

Shamrocks 4.1 on Exeter ice,
Friday and gained a 4-4 tie with

knotted the count, Bill Fairbairn
scored on a play started by Scott
Burton and Bill Bourne.
In the second period, Dave
Scarrow and Brubacker scored
for Elmira while Randy Parsons
notched the Exeter goal. Assists
on the play were awarded to
Tom Hodgins and Bill Bourne.
Dennis Lackner put Elmira
ahead again and set the stage for
Walker's equalizer. Bill Fairbairn

in the second period to ensure
the 4.1 Friday win over Hespeler
after they held a 2.1 first frame
edge.
Grant Walker opened the
night's scoring at 2.20 of the
first, converting a pass from
Scott Burton,
Steve Davis evened the count
with a Hespeler score and Jim
Hayter was along with a goal on
a solo effort before the period
ended.
In the second, Bill Fairbairn
and Mike Hoy registered for the
Hawks to complete the night's
scoring.

The Bankers edged Graham
and Graham 12-8 in Thursday's
second game and walloped the
Juveniles 22.5 Sunday night to
up their season point total to 25.
Graham and Graham
continue safely in the runner-up
position with 19 points, the Old
Timers on the strength of a 9-6
win over Huron Park in the first
half of Thursday's twin bill are
in third with 10 points and the
Centralia club holds down the
last playoff position with eight
points to their credit. The
Juveniles trail in the basement
with a four point total.
In tonight, Thursday's regular
double header, Graham and
Graham and Huron Park hook
up at eight o'clock while the
Bank Boys and Old Timers
tangle in the windup contest.
The lone Sunday game pits
Huron Park against the
Juveniles,
BOOST GOAL OUTPUT
Members of the Bank Boys
club upped their scoring averages
during Sunday's 22-5 romp over
the Juveniles.
Pete McFalls with no less
than seven goals to his credit led
the scoring attack while the
league's top scorer, Bob Jones
scored a half dozen times.
Vic Neil scored four goals in a
supporting role while Jim
Russell gained a hat trick and
singles were fired by Alex
Leatherdale and Dean McKnight.
Larry Skinner notched two
goals to' pace the Juvenile
scoring and single counters were
added by Dale Skinner, Barry
Southcott and Denton Gaiser.
REPEL RUNNER-UP BID
Thursday's second game saw
the Bank Boys gain a 12.8
decision enabling them to move
four points up on their Graham
and Graham opposition. A win
for the construction company
team would have produced a tie
for first place in the league
standings.
Bob Jones and Pete McFalls
each scored three times to again
lead the Bankers' scoring
production. Jim Russell notched
a pair of goals and the balance
were fashioned in single style by
Dick Coulter, Dean McKnight,
Cy Blommaert and Vic Neil.
Tom Watt headed up the G &
G goal counting with a three
goal effort while Jack Glover
potted a pair and Jim Dingwelt,
Jim McDonald and Craig
Davidson checked in with lone
counters.

CENTRALIA
Frank Smyth, a kindly
dispositioned well-known citizen
of this village passed away in the
Davis Nursing Home, Exeter,
Monday morning following
several months illness.
The deceased in his 84th year
was a son of the late William
John and Annie Smyth and
farmed for many years in
Biddulph Township before
moving to Centralia. He was a
member of St. Patrick's Anglican
Church, Saintsbury.
He is survived by his wife, the
former Elsie Wasnidge; a
daughter, Mrs. Hugo (Irene)
Theander of Lucan; a son
Borden, Centralia; and a sister
Mrs. Ethel Dickens, London.
Also surviving are five
grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was
conducted by the Rev. S. Bell,
Kirkton assisted by the Rev.
Robert Wilson, Centralia, in the
Murdy Funeral Home, Lucan,
Wednesday afternoon. Interment
was in St. James Cemetery,
Clandeboye.
Pallbearers were Frank
Dickens, Fred Dickens, Carroll
Quinton, Clarence Davis, Bill
Johnson, and Gote
Wennerstrom.

Mr. & Mrs. Stan Hicks and
family were in Toronto Saturday
owing to the illness of Stan's
mother, Mrs. Byron Hicks, a
patient in the hospital in
Willowdale.
Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Paul and
Terri of Kirkton were Sunday
evening guests with Mrs. Lorne
Hicks.
Mrs. Theresa Maloney, Mr. &
Mrs. Reg. Aubin and boys of
Seaforth spent Sunday with Mrs.
V. Overholt and family. Mrs.
Maloney remained with her
the Jets 7-4 at Centralia,
Wednesday.
On Huron Park ice, Tuesday,
the Jets took a 3.1 lead over the
Kings after the first period of
play and were never headed.
Barry Hearn, top point getter
for the Lucan-Ilderton club
opened the scoring at 3:35
completing a passing play started
by Jack Nairn and Bill McIntosh,
Five minutes later, Nairn
fired an unassisted goal to up the
score to 2-0. Laverne Miller put
the Kings on the scoreboard for
the first time at 9:30,
Near the end of the period,
Doug Galloway set Hearn in the
clear with a long pass and he had
daughter for a visit.
Several boys from the village
attended the stag for Gary
Parsons in the Crediton
Community Centre, Saturday
night.
Mr. & Mrs. Earl Dixon
attended the funeral of the late
Miss Hazel Lewis, Ailsa Craig, at
the Murdy Funeral Home,
Lucan, Monday. Mr. Dixon was
a pallbearer.

Three quick goals by the
Durham Huskies in the early
minutes of the first period put
the Jets behind the eight-ball at
Centralia, Wednesday as they
lost 7-4.
Murray Stephens, Jim Aitken
and John O'Flaherty put the
Huskies well in front before
Dusty Aldis put the Jets on the
score sheet for the first time,
In the second period, Jacques
Cousineau sandwiched the only
L-I score between Durham goals
fired by Jim Nixon and Dale
Rahn.
The clubs broke even in the
final period, each scoring twice,
Stephens with his second of
the night and Gerry Herman
were the Durham marksmen.
Bill McIntosh and Aldis with
his second goal scored for the
