The Luean-licierton Jets saw
action only once during the past
week and find themselves only
two points ahead of the pack in
the Ontario Hockey Association
Intermediate "B" grouping.
The 1,-I boys had little trouble
in downing the Elmira Club in
Elmira Sunday by a 12-5 count,
The MS lead the league with
24 points, the Durham Huskies
follow with 22 points and the
Elmira Polar Kings are in third
spot with a total of 16 points.
TWo important games face the
Jets in the next week. They
again travel to Elmira on Sunday
and face the always dangerous
Durham team at the Huron Park
arena, Wednesday, January 29.
Barry Hearn continues to be
the top scorer for the
Lucan-Ilderton team with 11
goals and 29 assists for 40
points, good for third place in
the league standings.
Hearn stands a good chance to
move to the top of the scoring
race in the next couple of weeks
as league leader Paul Robinson
of Georgetown has been
suspended for seven games.
Robinson has 51 points to his
credit and team-mate Bob Ingles
is only two points up on the L-I
scoring ace.
GET EARLY START
The Jets wasted little time
getting on the scoreboard in
Elmira Sunday on the way to an
easy 12-5 win over the Polar
Kings.
Jacques Cousineau, one of the
top L-I scorers for the afternoon
with a hat trick to his credit
scored unassisted at the 32
second mark and the Jets were
off and running.
Before 13 minutes had
elapsed, the Steve Storey
coached crew had moved into a
4-0 lead, Doug Galloway scored
the second marker, also on a
solo effort and Jamie Robb and
Jack Nairn added single goals.
Howie McDonald put the
Polar Kings on the score sheet at
14.04 and less than two minutes
later Nairn regained the four
goal lead for his club with his
second counter of the match.
In the middle frame, the Jets
outscored the home club 4-2.
Cousineau bagged his second
goal of the game, Nairn notched
his third and Bill Neil and Ron

Healing Substance:
Shrinks Piles
Exclusi c heal ing substance proven to shrink
hemorrhoids and repair damaged tissue.
A renowned research institute has
found a unique healing substance
with the ability to shrink hemor-
rhoids painlessly It relieves itching
and discomfort in minutes and
speeds up healing of the injured,
inflamed tissue.
In case after case, while gently
relieving pain, actual reduction
(shrinkage) took place
Most important of all -- results
were so thorough that this improve-
ment was maintained over a period
of many months.
This was accomplished with a
new healing substance (Rio-Dyne)
which quickly helps heal injured
cells and stimulates growth of new
tissue.

closest one of the game as far as
scoring was concerned.

Jim Bender and Barry Hearn
each scored later to finalize the
Lucan-Ilderton scoring. Rick
Baird and John Woodall shot the

games played.
The Hawks started out in fine
style on home ice, Friday by
slaughtering the Mildmay
Monarchs 15-2. Then, the
trouble with a capital (T)
started.
They were on the short end
of a 9.3 count to the Preston
Raiders in Preston Saturday and
suffered a 9-4 loss to the same
Mildmay club in the northern
town, Sunday afternoon.
The Hawks continue three
points behind the league leading
New Hamburg Hahns but have
played one game more than their
opposition.
To complete a disastrous
weekend, Barry Baynham, a
high-flying forward of the
Hawks suffered a fractured ankle
in the Preston game and could
be on the sidelines for the
balance of the season. Baynham
scored three times in the Friday
win over Mildmay and will be
sorely missed in the drive down
the playoff trail.
In this week's action, the
Hawks play host to Preston
Raiders, Friday night and the
Elmira juniors will be in Exeter
for a Sunday afternoon contest.
GET FEW GOALS
The Hawks came up with one
of their smallest goal outputs of
the season as they were knocked
off 9-4 by the Mildmay
Monarchs in Mildmay, Sunday
afternoon.
After running up 15 goals
against the same club, two days
earlier, only Randy Parsons,
Scott Burton, Pete Lawson and
Larry Laye were able to find the
scoring range for the Hawks.
CAN'T OVERCOME DEFICIT
In Preston Saturday night,
the home town Raiders scored
four unanswered goals in the
first period and were never in
serious trouble as the Exeter
club began their scoring slump.
The first place lead of the
Bank Boys in the Exeter and
district Rec hockey league has
been cut to two points. The
Bankers have a total of 19
points, two more than the G &
G sextet. Huron Park is in third
place with six points and the Old
Timers and Juveniles trail in the
cellar with four points apiece.
Graham and Graham won
two games over the past week
while the Bankers were
successful in their only start.
The G & G boys edged Huron
Park 7-5, Thursday and came
back with a resounding 19-6 win
over the Juveniles, Sunday night.
In the only other action of the
week, the Bank Boys bounced
the Old Timers 8.3.
In regular play tonight,
Thursday, the Bank Boys and
Huron Park meet in the opening
game at eight o'clock while the
Old Timers and Graham and
Graham hook up in the
nightcap. Sunday night the Old
Timers and Juveniles will meet
at 7:30.

Scott Burton's four goal

Friday.
Close behind with a hat trick
to his credit was hard-skating
Barry Baynham.
After six minutes of play in
the first period when the score
was tied at 2-2, the Hawks broke
the game wide open.
Next in line in the scoring
department with two goals came
defenceman Jean Gautreau.
Finishing up with single goals
were Bill Fairbairn, John Braid,
Grant Walker, Larry Laye,
Randy Parsons and Pete Lawson.

were Frank Boyle and Herb

HAT TRICKS LEAD
Duplicate three goal efforts
turned in by Dean McKnight and
Pete McFalls led the Bank Boys
to Thursday's 8-3 triumph over
the Old Timers. Finishing off the
winning scoring total with single
markers were Vic Neil and Bob
Jones.
The Old Timer tallies were
scored in single fashion by Paul
Mason, Don Heywood and John
Anderson.
SCORING SPREE
No less than eight Graham
and Graham performers got in
on the scoring act in the 19-6
Sunday win over the Juveniles.
Doug McBride was far and
away the top scorer with a half
dozen goals to his credit.
Chipping in with three markers
to gain a hat trick were Jack
Glover and Doug Crawford while
Jim Dingwell and Otto Smale
each fired two successful shots.
Craig Davidson, Bob
McDoliald and Ed Kerslake
found the range with single goals
to complete the G & G scoring
barrage,
Larry Stire and Barry
Southcott fired two apiece to
lead the Juveniles while Bill
Brock and Cliff Webber
contributed single scores.
