For the first time in several years, an all-male council will tend the affairs of the municipality as Reeve Oliver Jaques (front left) assumes the position held by former reeve Mrs. Minnie Noakes. New Years guests with Mrs. J. Hi-C enjoys Yuletide party The Christmas meeting of the Hensall Hi-C group met in Fellow ship Hall, Sunday evening. Shirley Brintnell read the Christmas Bible story from Luke and Nancy Traguair led in prayer. "No Room" was read by Jean Cole. A very fine colored film "The Christmas Story" was shown, followed by carols. Contests and lunch concluded the evening. Donna Forrest, Mary Mock arid Pam Taylor will convene the meeting January Toronto man 96 years young Paterson, Toronto, was 96 years young December 24 and quietly celebrated the occasion at his hotne. A native of Hensall where he spent his younger days, Mr. Paterson still has a soft Spot in his heart for dear old Hensall. He also spent six years in Cellingwood and 61 years in Toronto, E. McEwen were Mr. & Mrs. Robert Love, Kevin, Valerie, and Laura, Madison, Wisconsin. The ladies of Carmel Presbyterian Church, Hensall, are planning to attend the annual Huron Presbyterial January 15 in St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Clinton. Richard Scrabuik returned home Saturday from Clinton Public Hospital where he underwent an appendectomy. Charles Mickle left last Friday by plane for Bethlehem, Pa. where he will resume his studies at Lehigh University after spending the past three weeks with his parents Mr. & Mrs. Laird Mickle and the family. Christmas visitors with Rev. & Mrs. Harold Currie and Carmen were Mrs. Currie's mother, Mrs. W. T. Robison of St. Marys; their sons, Douglas of Toronto and Wayne and his wife Marie from Hamilton; Mr. & Mrs. I. W. Stephenson and sons of Cooksville; and Mr. & Mrs. Mel Osmond and daughters of Toronto. Mrs. Elizabeth Riley and Mrs. Annie Reid were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Horace Pfaff in Exeter. Mr. & Mrs. George Parker and Randy left London by air on Sunday to visit with Mr. & Mrs. Oron Williams and family at Summerside, Prince Edward Island and also with the former's brother-in-law and sister, Const. Douglas and Mrs. Wein and David at North Sydney, Nova Scotia. Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Holland and daughter Gwen of Clinton were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. James Sangster and Bradley, Miss Mae McNaughton of London visited with Mr. & Mrs. Peter L. Dawson of Hamilton, former of Stanley Township Passed away suddenly in Hamilton Friday, December 27. Surviving are his wife, the former Allegra Sutton; two sons, William H.~ Palo Alto, Cal; Robert, British Columbia; one brother, Orrin of Varna. Funeral services were held December 31 in Hamilton and from the Ball Funeral Home, Clinton, with burial in Bayfield cemetery. WILLIAM COLE William Cole of Ilensall passed away at HuronvieW Monday, December 30 in his 76th year. He is survived by his wife, the former Annie Eyre; one son, Alvin, RR 1 Cromarty, and two grandchildren. Public funeral service was held from Bonthron Funeral Home Wednesday conducted by Rev. Harold F. Currie, Burial was in IVIcTaggart's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Eric Mansfield, Lloyd Venner, Jack Brintnell, Ross Riley, Arnold Keys and Mervyn Eyre. Confirmation service was conducted recently at St. Paul's Anglican Church with Rt. Rev. H.F.G. Appleyard, Bishop of Georgian Bay, officiating. The four young girls confirmed were Deanne Marlene Scrabuik, Hensall; Julie Ann Taylor, Kathy Wells and Deborah Wooden, all of Exeter. The Bishop's address was very inspiring and fitting for the Christmas season. Rev. H. A. Seegmiller presented Julie Ann Taylor with an award for having attained 91 percent on questions set by Mr. Seegmiller during the confirmation classes. He commended all the girls in this regard as there was only a variation of 10 percent between the four of them. A solo was rendered by Miss Mary Goodwin. Currie to the Blue Water Rest Home in Zurich, Christmas Sunday to present the Christmas Chapel Vesper Service at 5:30 p.m. Mrs. Turkheim entertained the choir following the service in the lounge. THOMAS ,JOHN $11 ERRI TT Thomas John Sherritt of Hensall passed away in Westminster Hospital, London Sunday December 29, where he had been a patient for several years. He was a veteran of the First World War, member of the Hensall Branch of the Canadian Legion 468, member of the L.O.L, 24 Bayfield, member of the Black Knights 1035 Bayfield, was associated with the choir of Hensel! United Church for some years where he was a member. Surviving are his wife, the former Myrtle Rycicream one son, Thomas H., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Spalding, Anna Maria, Florida; Mrs. D, 1-1. (Dora) Burley, Almont, Mich; Mrs. W. S. (Nona) Caldwell, London. one grandchild, Public funeral service was held from Bonthron Funeral Home Wednesday with Rev. Harold F. Surviving are one sister Mrs. Elmer (Helen) Turner, RR 1 Varna; and one brother, George, Seaforth. Public funeral service was held from Bonthron Funeral Home, Tuesday, December 31 conducted by Rev. Murdoch Morrison of Varna. Burial was in Bairds Cemetery. LINDSAY EYRE Lindsay Eyre, 13rucefield, died suddenly in Clinton Public Hospital Saturday with a heart condition. He was admitted to the hospital the day he died. In his 67th year, he was a member of the IQOF Lodge, Brucefield, Amber Rebekah gifts from the congregation as a token of their esteem and good wishes in their new parish in Nova Scotia. They expect to leave Exeter after Christmas, His successor in Exeter will be Rev. George Anderson of Chatham.
