The saille two clubs Will be
back at it on Huron Park,
Centralia ice on Monday,
December 5.0 and the Jets are
then idle until January 7 when
they play host to the Durham
Huskies.
LAST PERIOD BUSY
More than half of the goals in
the entire game were scored in
the last period as the Jets
outscored their opposition by
four goals to two.
Jacques Cousineau put the
Jets out in front with the only
goal of the first period and each
team scored twice in the second
session,
Dusty Aldis and Bill Neil
were the L-I scorers in the
middle frame while Larry Dale
and Jack McIlwain replied for
the Beavers.
Bill McIntosh's blistering slap
shot from the blueline put the
Jets two goals up at the 25
second mark of the last period
and they were never headed.
The other Jet goals in •the
third period were fired by Tom
Monteith, Jim Bender and Bill
Neil, his second successful shot
of the game.
A total of 21 penalties were
called in the rough contest.
Dear Sir,
I would like to address this
letter :to all hockey fans in the
area.
Early in Septernber I was
approached by the executive of
the Zurich Dominions Hockey
Club and asked if I would be
interested in coaching the Junior
D team
I agreed to do so and told
them immediatelY the type of
hockey I expected. They agreed
with me completely-
At the first Practice I
explained to all the players
exactly what I expected of them
And no one complained or
walked out,
Up until Saturday, December
7, I thought everything was
going fine; the team had only
won two games, but I felt they
Lucan-Ilderton's veteran playing
coach Steve Storey will be,
sidelined for about six weeks as
the result of a shoulder
separation received during
Sunday afternoon's action in
Seaforth.
Defenceman Bev Urbshott
picked up a total of three assists
during the game and goalie
Wayne Parkinson turned in a
solid performance.
Minor hockey clubs
get pair` of victories
Robbie Lindenfield found the
scoring range on four occasions
to lead the Exeter bantam
scoring attack. The top point
getter was actually Randy
Preszcator who scored twice and
picked up a total of five assists
to give himself a seven point
night.
Perry Stover aided the
winning cause with a two goal
output while singles were fired
by Peter Gill, Randy Gilfillan
and Peter Kleinstiver.
SEE-SAW AFFAIR
The score in the midget game
see-sawed back and forth. The
Exeter boys scored twice in the
first period, Ilderton bounced
back with a goal in each of the
second and third periods and the
Exeter club scored the winning
goal late in the game.
Ron Lindenfield and Bill
Jennison scored the first period
Exeter markers and Bill Jennison
fired the winning counter on a
play started by Ron Janke.
were cornin along; not one
player had `complained to „me
about anythlpg; no one ,on the
executive had complained to me
about anything; in fact, several
parents had congratulated me on
my coaching methods and on
team discipline.
Yet on that same evening a
"delegation" of two came to my
home and informed me that I
was being dropped as coach
because some of the boys
complained, about discipline'
and we were "getting too many
penalties,"
Up until then everyone had
praised the discipline and as far
as penalties are concerned, I
quote Emile Francis, general
manager of the New York
Rangers, "a hockey team just
can't allow itself to be pushed
around. A team that doesn't get
penalties is a team without
guts." Ted Lindsay, former
Detroit Red. Wing great, says
"You just can't let anyone think
they ever got the best of you,
You have to retaliate."
The present NI-IL standings
show the two teams with the
most penalties are the top teams,
Montreal and Boston.
