Tuesday evening, December
10, in the community hall the
WI.served ,Cbristmas dinner to
more than 40,senior citizens of
the oistrio, President Mrs,
Harvey 'HOOP welcomed the
gtiest following the meal a program
was enjoyed. After a time of
singing, Mrs. Sam King gave .a
root,.
Guest speaker Rev. Howard
Zurbrigg,-based his remarks on
the 23rd Psalm, Music was
provided by gerald Caiser and.
Norval Reid with guitar and
violin.
The prize for the oldest guest
present went to Mrs. Mary Faist;
for the one whose birthday came
nearest December 10, ' Henry
Pfaff; to the holder of the lucky
plate, Gerald Gaiser; . to the
' couple whose ages totalled the.
greatest number of years, Mr,
and Mrs, William Smith,
Joe White moved a vote of
thanks to the ladies of the WI.
The committee in charge of
the evening was Mrs, Lorne
Hodge, Mrs. Walter Weber, Mrs.
Sam King, Mrs. Emmery Fahrner
and Mrs. Irvine Finkbeiner,
Besides serving the, guests in
the hall, the ladies sent out four
plates of food to shut-ins.
WI MEETS
The Crediton WI held its
Christmas meeting December 9
with 28 members in attendance,
Treats were brought for shut-ins
and the roll call, "A shut-in visit
I made in the last month," was
well responded to by all.
Mrs. Helen Triebner convened.
the program. Jingle Bells was
sung followed by a piano duet of
Christmas songs by Sandra and
Wayne Shapton.
The motto, "Public relations
are built on the golden rule."
was given. by Mrs. G. Dearing.
Mary Hodgins played two piano
instrumentals and Mrs. Charles
Browning read a poem.
Mrs. Arthur Frayne, Exeter,
displayed and demonstrated 22
pieces of her Christmas
decorations in plastic and
driftwood. Driftwood finishing
was explained. Questions were
asked, and everyone was given a
chance to examine the finished
objects.
Mrs. Charles Browning read a
Christmas story. Wayne and
Sandra Shapton and Mary
Hodgins distributed the mystery
sisters' gifts and new names were
drawn for 1969.
Lunch was served by the
hostesses Mrs. Helen Triebner,
Mit. G. Dearing, Mrs. C.
Browning, Mrs. H. Andrews and
Mrs. G. Morlock.
TO MONTREAL
Brian Finkbeiner and Ted
Skinner, with other members of
the SHDHS Grade 11 French
class and accompanied by
supervisors, were in Montreal
from Thursday until Sunday.
The party travelled from
Exeter to London by bus, then
by train to Quebec. In Montreal
they had accommodation in the
Laurentian Hotel.
The students were able to use
their knowledge of French while
they saw the sights of the busy
metropolis.
CREDITON DRAW
Top prize winner in a recent
draw sponsored by the Crediton
Tigers hockey club was Rose
Marie Weigand of Dashwood
who is now the owner of a new
television set.
Also sharing in the prizes
with a turkey each were Lester
Heywood and Ray Cockwill,
Exeter, Harold Tripp and Kay
Blair, Centralia and Ann Glavin,
RR 1, Clandeboye.
RECEIVE HONORS
Six members of Crediton's
4-H Club received county
honour certificates at
Achievement Day in Exeter last
Saturday. They were Mary Anne
and Eileen Glavin, Shirley Pfaff,

The UCW of Crediton United
Church held their Christmas
meeting Wednesday evening,
December 11. It was. a
candlelight service in the charge
of Mrs. Nelson Lamport, assisted
by Mrs. Robert Reid, Mrs. Cliff
Kenney, Nfrs.. Sam King and Mrs.
William Hodge.
There was a Christmas duet
by Mrs. Charles Browning and
Mrs, Doug Galloway and a
reading by Mrs. Ross Pickering.
President Mrs. Earl Neil took
charge of the business, It was
decided to give the White Gift
Offering to the young people to
help in the support of - their
adopted overseas child.
Hostesses were Mrs. Cliff
Russell, Mrs. Charles Browning
