Service for the A.Y.M. in the
Holy Trinity Church Sunday
morning. He then invited the
young people to breakfast which

Jeffrey Daryl.
The sermon was based on the
Union of the Churches.
The Sunday School children's
pageant was much enjoyed in
the evening. It was entitled "The
First Christmas" and started
with the Virgin Mary as a child
playing with other children.
The Church was darkened
and the children came in
carrying flash-lights. As the story
proceeded through the life of
Mary, the Junior Choir sang
appropriate hymns.
The Church was darkened
between each scene and when
the manger was first seen there
was just one star shining above it
which was very effective.

various parts well whether as
angels, shepherds or wise men.
Ron Crudge and Harry
Dickson were in charge of the
lighting.

Minor .clubs
sweep clean
By J, E. BURT
The Christmas spirit has
started to show around the
centre. The Dorchester Pee Wee,
Bantam, and Midget teams
visited here at the centre last
Friday night, and had the old
spirit as Lucan won all three
games.
In Pee Wee it was 6-1, in
Bantam 5.2. This, by the way,
was the best game that the
Lucan Bantam team played this
year, and their first win against
good competition.
The Midget team won 7-2, so
this was a sweep.
The Lucan Minor team won
Saturday over Stoneybrook
10-2, with Jim Benn being the
big gun with five goals.
I expect to have a very busy
holiday period with ice rentals
etc., so I would like to take the
opportunity at this time, on
behalf of the Lucan Recreation
Committee, Wilf Hodgins and
myself, to wish all our patrons a
very special Merry Christmas and
a prosperous and happy new
year.
SANTA AT CRAIG
The Ailsa Craig Santa Claus
Parade was held last Saturday.
Although the Lucan Junior
Farmers entered a float they

The regular Sunday morning
service was in the charge of the
Rev. Gordon McDonald.
The evening service was taken
over by the Sunday School.
Each class had an item on the
program and the junior Choir
sang hymns between the items.
The children gave the
Christmas Story in a pageant
when they were all dressed
appropriately.
Shepherds were shown sitting
around being joined by other
shepherds. A Christmas hymn
was sung as if the groups were
telling the story to the other
group.
Joyce Butler read a poem.

United Church met Thursday
evening at the church for a

party. Only one couple was
unable to attend.

the meeting. There was a
discussion on aiming to raise
enough money to purchase
another folding door for the
C.E. building.
Christmas presents were
distributed by George Carpenter
and Ernie Ross. A poem was
attached to each present, written
by the unknown donor, and
these caused much laughter.
The Lucan pre-Christmas
meeting was held at the home, of
1‘1. H. Hodgins with 17
members and two visitors
present.
It opened 'with a pot-luck
lunch, each member having
brought a dish.
Mrs. Frances Saward,
vice-president, took the chair in
the absence of Mrs. Frank
Hardy. There Was a short
business session and it was
decided to donate a sum of
money to the Quinn family for
pots and pans, or other
necessities they may need, when
they settle in their new home.
The Lucan Lions Club held
its regular meeting in the
Anglican Church basement
Monday. This meeting had been
planned for a family Christmas
party night but that idea was
postponed to January 6 owing
to conflicting engagements for
many members.
There were 19 members
present representing an 83
percent attendance.
At a short business session, it
was reported that only 30
tickets remain unsold for the
New Year's Eve dance which will
feature a midnight supper served
by the Saintsbury ladies.
Arrangements were made to
distribute Christmas baskets to
needy people next Saturday.
This is a joint venture between
