Little action
for minors
Activity for the Exeter minor
hockey clubs participating in
Shamrock league play was
restricted to two games last
week.
In a doubleheader at the local
arena, Wednesday, the Exeter
and Lambeth bantams played to
a 3-3 tie in the opener and the
Exeter midgets recorded a 6-0
shut-out over their Lambeth
opposition in the nightcap.
FAIL TO HOLD LEAD
An early three goal lead failed
to hold up for the Exeter
bantams and they were forced to
settle for a tie.
Brad Klumpp and Perry
Stover scored in the first period
and Randy Preszcator upped the
,Exeter lead to 3-0 early in the
second period. A. Forsyth tallied
the first Lambeth goal midway
through the second and further
goals from the sticks of H.
Mitchell and B. Lucas in the
third period tied the count. The
goal by Lucas was scored with
less than four minutes left to
play.
TWO DOUBLE SCORERS
Steve Murley and Larry
Haugh each scored on two
occasions to head up the midget
scoring attack in the 6-0 victory.
The remainder of the Exeter
scores were added in single
fashion by Joe O'Rourke and
Bob Rowe.

Close to 40 young figure
skaters from clubs in Monkton,
Listowel, Brussels and Exeter
tried tests Sunday at the Exeter
arena under the watchful eye of
judges of the Canadian Figure
Skating Association,
The judges were Stu
McFarline, Ingersoll, Mrs. Bea
Martin, St. Marys and Mel
Douglas, Grand Bend, For the
junior silver and senior bronze
dances, Wilfred Pocock of Galt
partnered the various girls in
their dance routines.

were successful in passing their

dart league, but the hattle for
the next positions is close,
The Sharks have amassed a.
season total of 41 points. The

fourth spot are the Cleaners with
the Shiphunters and Dark Angels
deadlocked at 32 points apiece
to complete the top half of the
standing.
IndiVidual statistics show that
John Link dominates the men's
division with 18 wins and a
single high score of 141. In the
ladies' department, Barb Hearn's
140 is top score and Marj
Edwards hOs 16 games to her
credit.
The Shiphunters are
composed of Bernice and Garnet
Shipman and Anita and Roy
Hunter while Geraldine and Bill
Smith and Pauline and Har
Brintnell comprise the roster of
the Featherflights.

The Crediton Tigers dropped
a 7.5 decision to the

LAST PERIOD SPLURGE
A five goal scoring splurge in
the last period enabled the. Jets
to post the 9-3 win over Fergus,
Tuesday.
The Jets outscored the visitors
by two goals to one in each of
the first two periods and gained
the insurance markers in the
final twenty minutes of play,
The visitors were first to hit
the score sheet with Ron Tippen
beating Keith Scarborough in
the L-I nets at 7.26. It took the
Jets only four seconds to get
that one back with. Jack Nairn
steering in a pass from Barry
Hearn. Before the first period
was completed Ken Loft scored
for the Jets, completing a play
started by Barry Hearn and
Nairn.
The Flyers tied the score early
in the second on a goal by Doug
Selby and the Jets again
retaliated quickly with Hearn
scoring and assists going to Nairn
and Bev Urbshott.
Tom Monteith picked up the
second L-I goal of the middle
session. Jim Bender gained an
assist on the play.
Five goals in the first half of
the last stanza put the Jets well
on the way to victory and five
different players shared in the
scoring.

The Jets scored almost at will
at the Huron Park arena,
Wednesday in outscoring the
Acton Tanners 15-0.
Two performers, Barry Hearn
and Tom Monteith each scored
three times to pick up a hat trick
for their night's work.
Close behind with two goals
each were Jack Nairn, Bill Neil,
Bill McIntosh and Jim Bender.
Adding the odd marker was
Dusty Aldis.
Two changes
in curling
Two major changes have
taken place in the standings of
the three divisions of the first
draw of'the Exeter men's curling
club.
Jim Hewitt has moved his
foursome well out in front in
Monday play with 59 points.
Rinks skipped by Bev Morgan
and Bill MacLean are deadlocked
for the runner-up spot with 51
points apiece.
Pete Raymond's rink has
taken over top spot in Tuesday
action with 46 points, two more
than the point totals of last
week's leaders, Jack Gaiser and
Don Easton,
In the Thursday division,
Jack Urquhart's rink has opened
up a big lead at the top with 54
points to their credit. Ross
Marshall's foursome follows with
45 points.
