ACW elects
1969 officers
The annual meeting of the
Anglican Church Women was
held Thursday afternoon at the
home of Mrs. John Henderson,
with Mrs. Annie Reid in charge
of the devotional.
Mrs. H.A. Seegmiller gave the
address.
It was announced that in
place of the regular morning
service of December 22,
confirmation service will be held
in St. Paul's Anglican Church,
Hensall, at 3 p.m. with The Rt.
Rev. H.F.G. Appleyard, Bishop
of Georgian Bay, officiating.
Officers for 1969 are:
president, Mrs. Annie Reid;
vice-president, Mrs. Mary Taylor;
secretary-treasurer, Mrs. William
Scrabuik.
Arnold Circle
installs slate
President Mrs. Jim Bell
entertained the Presbyterian
Arnold Circle in her home with
all present and three new
members for the Christmas
meeting.
The worship service from the
Glad Tidings was taken by 1969
President Mrs. Don Mousseau
and Mrs. John. Skea.
Guest of the evening, Mrs.
Earl Campbell, installed the
officers for 1969.
Mrs. John Baker conducted a
short service and presented a life
membership certificate to Mrs.
Bob Bell as a valued member and
for her devotion to the Circle.
Past president Mrs. Bell
handed over the reins of office
to incoming President Mrs. Don
Mousseau for the business
period.
Gifts from the Christmas tree
revealed the Sunshine Pal to the
members.

t. Andrew's concert varied
The annual Christmas
meeting of Hensall WI was held
Wednesday evening with
president Mrs. Clarence Reid in
the chair. Roll call was "a
Christmas custom I like or
dislike?'
One minute of silence was
observed for the late Mrs.
Willert, a member of the branch.
A special collection of $13.75
was taken to be donated to the
Children's Aid Society at
Goderich. It was decided to
purchase a Christmas gift for a
Sunshine Pal at Huron view, and
to help the Retarded Children's
Association accompanying the
children to school in the Spring.
Greeting cards were read
from several branches.
Legion kids
enjoy party
Fifty children of the families
of Hensall Legion and Auxiliary
were entertained at a Christmas
party in the Legion Hall Sunday
afternoon and were presented
with gifts and bags of candy
from Santa.
They also enjoyed cartoons
with Eric Mansfield in charge of
the projector.
Lunch was served including
chocolate milk for the children.
In charge of the project were
Mrs. William Smale and. Mrs.
John Skea.
Mrs. Elizabeth Riley gave an
excellent report of the area
convention at Ingersoll. Mrs.
James McAllister gave Christmas
readings, Mrs. Bin Noakes sang
two solos accompanied by Miss
Greta Lammie and Mrs. Eric
Luther gave a demonstration on
Christmas decorations and how
to decorate a waste paper
basket.
Mrs. Walter Spencer showed
Santa party
attracts 460
The annual Christmas party
for children of Hensall and
community was held Saturday
afternoon under ideal weather
conditions. The largest crowd
ever to attend the party was
recorded.
Santa arrived in the Hensall.
Fire truck and was greeted by
the children. About 460
youngsters were each treated to
a bag of potato chips, a
chocolate bar and a bottle of
chocolate milk.
The children and parents
were entertained with films with
Bill Fuss in charge of the
projector. The hall was packed
to capacity with about 500 in
the audience.
Hensall Businessmen
Association sponsored the
project.
Dave Kipfer
born in Hay
Mrs. Thomas Kyle Sr.
received word of the death of
her brother, Dave Kipfer of
Albia, Iowa.
He was 74 and was born in
Hay Township. He was also a
veteran of the First World War
where he was wounded and in
the gas invasion.
Surviving are one son, Donald
of Albia, Iowa. His wife, one son
and one daughter predeceased
him.
Also surviving are two sisters,
Nancy and Ella; two brothers,
Ezra Kipfer, Hensall and Simon,
in the USA.

The annual Christmas concert
at St. Andrew'S. United Church
was held last Monday evening
with a good attendance,
Opening remarks were made
by the Sunday School
Superintendent Ha n k
Binnendyk, who was chairman
for the evening.
A pantomine by the nursery
class was enjoyed by all, as were
recitations by Heather McLean
and Dennis McBride, a tree
recital by the kindergarten class,
a number by the primary class, a
pageant by the junior and
intermediate classes and a
tableau by the choir.
Santa appeared With gifts and
treats for all the children.
KIPPEN UCW
The Christmas meeting of the
Kippen UCW was held in the
church schoolroom Tuesday
evening with Mrs. Robert Elgie
presiding.
Mrs. Bert Faber gave a
devotional of "Christmas" and
offered a prayer.
Mrs. Elgie and Mrs. Edison
McLean visited during the
"White Gift Sunday" was
observed in Carmel Presbyterian
Church Sunday, when Rev. John
C. Boyne B. A.B.D. gave an
inspiring Christmas Message
entitled "By His Son."
The choir under the direction
of Mrs. Malcolm Dougall
contributed an anthem.
The flowers in the church
were in memory of the late
George Tinney, Exeter.
Following the service the
Sunday School Christmas
program and White Gift Service
was presented in the Church
school, under the direction of
Mrs. Harvey Hyde with Mrs.
Mildred Bell accompanying at
the piano.
Sunday is Christmas Sunday
which will also mark Rev.
Boyne's last Sunday in Carmel
Church.
UNITED CHURCH NOTES
Flowers in the United Church
Sanctuary Sunday morning were
in memory of Mrs. William
Dinnin, placed by the family.
Rev. Harold F. Currie
expressed his thanks during the
service to the ladies who
decorated the church so
beautifully and to the Guides
and Brownies for their gift of
two poinsettias.

Robert and Bert Thomson
visited Tuesday with Mary
Thomson, a patient in War
Memorial Sick Children's
Hospital, London. She is
reported doing as well as can be
expected and hopeful of sitting
up in about three weeks.

Special Christmas services will
be held. Sunday morning at 11
a.m. The Sunday School Session
will be withdrawn so all the
people could attend in families.
Holy Communion will be
held Christmas Eve, December

at Chiselhurst
The December meeting of
Chiselhurst UCW opened with
the theme song. The Sunday
School rooms were suitably
decorated in Christmas motif.
Mrs. Thos Brintnell opened
with a Christmas Message for
1968.
Mrs. Earl Kinsmen presented
the worship service, assisted by
Mrs. Percy Harris. The
missionary prayer was offered
by Mrs. Russell Brock.
Rev. Harold Currie presented
"The Message of Christmas"
with the scripture taken from
the old and new testaments.
Mrs. Alf Ross chose "Star of
the East" for an instrumental.
Twelve Christmas boxes were
packed for the sick and shut-ins.
Mrs. Richard Taylor gave a
talk on "Human Rights."
