The CGIT vesper service was
held at the clOse` of the regular
service with mothers of the girls
and WMS members as guests.
With Mrs. Lamond and Bonnie
Kerslake as leaders, the girls each
took part in the recital of the
Christmas Story, Graduation
exercises were performed for
three of the senior girls, Misses
Denise Kerslake, Frances Scott
and Darlene Temoleman,
Following the, service a pot
luck dinner was served by the
girls.
Mrs. Jeanette Coltman of
Toronto spent the weekend at
the home of her sister, Mrs,
Elmer Dow, Mr, Dow and
family,
Mr. & Mrs. Calder McKaig
visited. Mr. & Mrs. Donald
McKaig and Jean of Seaforth
Sunday.

Christmas meeting of the
Kirkton Horticulture Society in
Aberdeen Hall, KirktOn, last
Tuesday evening.
HAPPY DOUBLES
Twenty members of the
Happy Doubles Club held their
Christmas banquet at the
Dufferin Hotel, Centralia,
Saturday evening,
All returned to the church
where a Christmas worship
service was enjoyed.
Several Christmas carols and
Scripture Lessons were read by
Mrs. Donald Bray with prayer by
Donald Bray. Christmas readings
and poems were given by Mr. &
Mrs. Murray Dawson.
It was decided to go carol
singing to the shut-ins,
December 21.
Lunch of Christmas cake and
cookies were provided by Mr.
and Mrs. Bray and Mr. and Mrs.
Dawson.
UCW
The Christmas meeting of the
UCW was held Thursday evening
in the church basement with
Mrs. William Snow and Mrs.
Glen Stewart as hostesses.
Theme for the meeting was
"Let the song go round the
earth, Jesus Christ is Lord."
Several Christmas carols were
sung followed by the Scripture
by Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne.
Meditation was by Mrs. William
Rohde.
Mrs. Floyd Stewart read a
story followed by prayer.
Mrs. Rohde introduced Ben
Hoogenboom, a florist from
Exeter, who did several floral
arrangements which were much
enjoyed. Mrs. Floyd Stewart
thanked the speaker.
Mrs. Rohde conducted the
business. Several cards of thanks
were read. A minute of silent
prayer was observed in memory
of the late Mrs. William
Ferguson, a former member.
It was decided to donate $5
each to the Victor Home Mission
in Toronto and Five Oaks at
Paris.

Graham and Ernie Ester, cousins
in Peterborough, England, sent
flowers to mark the occasion.

Mrs. Andy Carter, Exeter,
visited Monday afternoon with
Mrs. John Whitmore Sr. and
Gale.
Fred Whitmore is in
Strathroy at the Merry Hill
Nursing Home.
Mervyn Carter is improving
following an accident in which
his arm was injured.
Mr. & Mrs. Wilfred Morgan,
Strathroy, visited the latter's
sister, Mrs. Omar Cunningham
Monday.

were guests of Mr. & Mrs.

Those who attended the
church unity meeting at Empress
United Church, London,
Monday, were. Maurice Simpson,
, vestry clerk of St. James, and
Alan Hill. They heard Canon
Latimer of Toronto who
explained that in 1966 the
United Church had accepted the
principle of union, one year
after the Anglicans had reached
the same decision.
Sunday the advent candles
were lit at Clandeboye St. James
Anglican Church by Glen
Cunningham. Holy Communion
was celebrated and the sermon
topic was the necessity to get
back to regular Bible reading and
prayer. The annual Lesson and
carol service will be held
December 22 at 12:30 p.m.
