AREA SNOWMOBI LISTS BEADY FOR ACTION
It's an understatement to say
that snowmobiles are becoming
popular throughout the area,
The machines, which have
changed the face of winter,
arrived in large numbers in the
area last year and this. past
Week's sneWfall indicated that
many more ardent enthusiasts
had been added to the list of
Owners.
With area dealers taking on
more, lines and handling More
models and equipment, the list is
expected to expand considerably
throughout the ensuing winter
months.
The whirr Of the speedy
machines has become an,
npeepted. part of the local scene
and vacant fields have been a.
hive of activity during the past
few days,
While some snowmobiles
serve very practical purposes for
those in northern regions, the
machines in this area are strictly
for: port and recreation.
Cutters that are hauled
behind the snowmobiles make it
a family sport that is enjoyed by
toddlers to those with receding
hairlines.
Two. area "resort-type"
camps. have been established and
promise to be the scene of many
activities throughout the coming
months.
Last year, Don Mousseau and
some friends opened the Pine
Ridge Chalet in. Hay Swamp and
included ice skating,
tobogganing and barbecues for
snowmobile owners and their
friends,
Trails were cut through the
bush in the swamp and many
lengthy runs were established,
Pine Ridge Chalet has opened
for another season and already
has attracted back many of last
year's patrons.
