The Jets edged Seaforth Beavers 6.5 in Centralia, Wednesday and recorded a 4-0 shut-opt over the Durham Huskies in Durham, Sunday, The L-I club was in action at Huron. Park last night, Wednesday against the winless Acton Tanners. They next see action in Fergus Friday and return to home Huron Park ice, Tuesday to meet the same Fergus club, GOOD GOALING • Sensational goal tending by veteran Keith Scarborough and aggressive play by all forwards enabled the Jets to chalk up their 4-0 win in Durham, Sunday. Scarborough, with a steady performance throughout, stopped a clean-cut breakaway with less than five minutes to go KEITH SCARBOROUGH . . . gains shut-out to preserve his shut-out. The first period was scoreless and Jamie Robb opened the game scoring at 5:12 of the second on a quick slap shot from just inside the blue line on a play started by Barry Hearn. The Jets' second goal came at 3:52 of the final period as Robb carried the length of the ice and dropped a trailing pass to Jack Nairn who fired a low shot into the Durham cage, Five minutes later, Tom Monteith made the score 3-0, pulling the goalie out of position and tucking the puck safely into the net. The assist went to Dusty Aldis. Aldis was right back before the period was half over to register the final goal of the MEN'S "A" LEAGUE RB (R. Heywood 710) OD (B. Fisher 807) SU (J. Ryan is tied for second place with eight goals and six assists. for 14 PointS while Barry Hearn is right 'behind with two pais and 11 assists, good for 13 points„ The intense rivalry of a few years ago between Intermediate hockey teams from Seaforth and Lucan. seems to 'have been renewedif the first meeting- of the year between the. SeafOrth Beavers and the. Lucan-Ildetton Jets is :any indication. In a rough, tough, hard-hitting contest, the Jets edged the Bea vers 6-5. Defenceman Jim Dick of Seafotth received a five-minute penalty for cross, sticking midway through the second period and in the ensuing argument with the officials was tagged with a misconduct and match penalty, Veteran Ken Doig of the Beavers, also was given a 10-minute misconduct earlier in the same period after being tagged on a slashing offence. Most of the scoring in the game was 'confined to the second period when each team scored three times. The Jets took a 2-0 lead in the first session and the Beavers scored twice in the final period with only a single reply from the L-I club. The Jets' top scorer of the night, Ron Ryan' put bis.club on the scoreboard for the first time at 7:13 of the initial period as he converted a pass from defenceman Bev Urbshott. About four minutes later Jack Nairn took a pass from Jamie Robb and beat Gar Baker in the Seaforth nets on a close-in play to put the Jets in front by two goals. The Beavers wasted little time in the second session in getting into a scoring frame of mind as Jack McIlwain combined with Ken Doig to blink the red light behind the L-I net before two minutes had elapsed. Only 27 seconds later, the Jets two goal lead was redeemed with Jacques Cousineau rapping in a rebound on an initial shot by Ryan. Near the six minute mark, the same procedure occurred with each team scoring within seconds of each other. McIlwain was the Seaforth goal getter and Barry Hearn retaliated for the Lucan-Ilderton club on an ,unassisted effort. With' time running' out in the second, Dusty Aldis, making his second start of the season for the Jets completed a three-way LADIES' "B" LEAGUE (L. Thorne 639 7 38 (M. Simpson 494) 0 18 (F. The Flyers after winning five games straight take on the second place Hawks at 8 o'clock Saturday morning in what should be the best pee wee game of this young season. The Flyers were flying on Saturday morning as they drubbed the Aces by a score of 6 to 1. Noel Skinner and Tony MacDonald were two goal scorers with single goals by Gordon Wach and Steven Willert. John Vriese was the only player from the Aces able to dent the twine behind goalie Dan ^ Brintnell. There are rumours around the Arena that the coach of the Flyers "Puts" Tiernan takes a regular turn on defence for his team when I am not looking and this is the reason for their five straight wins. The Jets led by Wayne Regier almost won their first game of the season but had to settle for a 3 to 2 loss handed out by Brian lace have Ron Ryan come right haci with his agcopd goal' of the night, The final goal of the night came from the stick of Seaforth's Jim Sills, Don Morton of the Seaforth club' was injured late, in the third period when he was checked into the boards, He was taken to Seaforth General Hospital but was released later in the evening. Taylor and the Hawks. This game was a battle from start to finish between two fine Pee Wee hockey players, Brian Taylor and Wayne Regier as they accounted for all the goals scored. The Rangers scored a well deserved win over Boston on Saturday by the score of 3.2. Three players shared in the goal scoring department, Paul Pooley, Howard Schenk and John Van Gerwen. Marty Becker scored both goals for Boston. In a very exciting bantam game Toronto defeated Montreal 5-4. Goal scorers for Toronto were Bill Van Bergen with two and singles by Larry Gibson, Gary Lavier and Robert Ryckman. For Montreal "Puts" Tieman had the hat trick and a single goal from the stick of Doug Fairbairn.
