W. C. Tupling united in wedlock Sharon Elizabeth Simpson and Maurice (Ben) Arthur Loiselle. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Simpson RR 1, Lucan, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Loiselle of Tecumseh St., London. Given in marriage by her father, the bride had chosen a floor-length gown with a skirt of Italian Grand Bote, empire style. The round neckline bodice and lily-point sleeves were of chantilly lace as was the train which flowed from the shoulders. The four-tiered shoulder-length illusion veil was held by a pill-box of chantilly lace over Grand Bote. She carried a crescent-shaped cascade of white shasta mums and sweetheart roses. Miss Jan Ackerley of London, as maid of honour, Miss Jane McKibbon of London and Miss Nancy Simpson, sister of the bride, as bridesmaids, wore Identically styled floor-length, empire-style short sleeved gowns of shocking pink velvet, with matching head pieces of small velvet roses and leaves. They each carried a cascade of shasta mums with moss green velvet streamers. Miss Evelyn Loiselle, sister of the groom, as flower girl wore a gown with a bodice of white lace and a full floor-length skirt of shocking pink velvet, with a matching flat velvet bow as head-piece. She carried a hand cluster of white porn-porn mums and sweetheart roses. The best man was Charles Townsend of London, and the ushers were John Tomlinson of Windsor and Allan Loiselle of London. W. R. Goulding of London provided music at the organ. At the reception held in the basement of Lucan United Church, the mother of the bride received her guests in a moss green wool dress, matching hat and mink stole, with a purse corsage of yellow roses. She was assisted by the groom's mother who chose an emerald green dress and coat ensemble of pole de soie, matching feather hat and a purse corsage featuring a Cybridium orchid. Flying to Cleveland for a honeymoon trip, the bride Minor puck clubs take 'it on chin' By J.E, BURT In minor hockey last Friday night, the Lucan Pee-Wee, Bantam and Midget teams took it on the chin as they lost on all three counts to Lambeth. In Pee-Wee it was 3-1, Bantam 9.0 and in Midget it was 3-1 again. The Pee-Wees outplayed Lambeth by a ldrge margin, but could not beat the Lambeth goalie. I can't understand, why more people do not come out and support these teams as they play exciting hockey. The- Lucan Merchants in the South Middlesex League finally got a point, as they tied Concrete Pipe 3-3. By doing so, they knocked Concrete out of a share of first place. Now, if they could do the same with some of the poorer teams, they should come up with some wins. The Lucan-Ilderton Lions house league hockey is well organized now with a lot of boys participating. This league is quite lop-sided at the moment, but I believe that the bottom team is going to change things next Saturday in the type decisive of this league. We have three tie games in three outings. If this keeps up we will have to run a marathon to decide a winner. We will he back at our Saturday night dances again, starting this Saturday, December 7. changed to a white wool dress, trimmed with black Persian lamb, pink coat, white hat and black patent accessories, with a white orchid corsage. Among the guests were visitors from Waterloo, St. Thomas, Toronto, Tillsonburg, Nassau, Bahamas, Windsor, Winnipeg, Stratford, Sarnia, Timmins, Port Colborne and Seaforth. The young couple will make their home in London. Euchre clubs hold. parties The second euchre party of the season was held by the ladies' Guild in the basement of the Anglican Church, Lucan. There were eight tables, occupied and the high score prizes went to Mrs. Heber Davis and Torn Ryan, Lone hand prizes were won by Mrs. Harvey Hodgins and Ed Knoblauch. Low score prizes went to Miss Kathleen Ryan and Mert Culbert. EUCHRE CLUB The Medway Euchre Club met at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Otto Davis. The high score winners were Mrs. Austin Hobbs and William McComb. The lone hand winners were Mrs. E. Summers and C. McRobert; low scores, Mrs. E. Middleton and E. Summers. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William McComb. Tops members get inspiration The regular meeting of the Tops Club was held at the home of Mrs. Gary McKenzie, with six members present. The weigh-in was excellent, and all members stated they had benefited by what they had learned from the inspiring talk that they had heard from Mrs. Ida Burns of Cooksville when they visited Strathroy. They all agreed that they would continue with the ideas she gave them. Mrs. Don McRobert was qiieen for the week and Mrs. Harry Bond, runner-up, The sale of tickets for the draw for the money-doll was reported as good. The sketches of banners for conventions are completed, and when enlarged will be ready for use when the occasion arises. Mr. & Mrs. George Stanley of Hanover, spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Wilbert Stanley of London. PENTECOSTAL The Rev, Cordon McDonald was in charge of the usual Sunday services at the Diem! Pentecostal Church. The Sunday School children are busy Practising for the Christmas Concert to be Performed Sunday, December 15, in the Church. UNITED The Lucan United. Church held "White Gift" Sunday when, the Sunday School children filed into church with their teachers, each child placing a gift for an under-privileged child in the baskets in front of the pulpit. The Nursery children went back to their room, while the older children took their places in Church. Cliff Culbert as Sunday School superintendent led the prayers, and Jeannette Barr gave the scripture reading. The Junior Choir under the direction of Norman Steeper, sang two anthems. The Rev. W.C. Tupling, instead of a sermon, told a story, which was a modern version of the story of the "Widow's Mite." There were also two baptisms performed by Mr. Tupling. Dean Christian Van Arenthals, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Van Arenthals, and Todd William Froats, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Froats received the rites. This being Visitation Sunday the visiting committee met in the Church basement and were served lunch by the ladies of the Church before commencing their visits. LUCAN UC SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS The Sunday School Superintendent Cliff Culbert called a meeting of the teachers to discuss any problems which had arisen. More teaching pictures would be obtained for the Kingergarten and the amount of the donation to the Missions decided upon. A Christmas Party for the children was discussed and it was agreed to hold a skating party at the Arena, January 2.
