Main Street United Church,
Exeter, was decorated with ferns
and candles for Saturday's
wedding which united Mary Ann
Aileen Simpson, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs, Lyle Simpson, Exeter,
and Dennis Francis Daly, son of
Mr, and Mrs- Blake Daly,
SYdney, Nova Scotia..
Rev. Douglas Warren
performed the double-ring
ceremony. Wedding music was
supplied by Mrs. Frank
Wildfong, organist, and Jean
Simpson, sister of the bride, and
Sharon McCaffrey, Exeter.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride had chosen a
floor-length gown fashioned
from lagoda crepe on A-line with
lilypoint sleeves, empire waist
and cowl neckline. Guipure lace
accented the bodice of the
gown. A detachable cathedral
train fell in graceful folds from
the back shoulders. Her pearl
flower headpiece caught a
four-tiered illusion veil and she
carried a cascade of pink roses
and ivy tied with purple velvet
streamers.
Bridal attendants were Mrs.
James Reid, London, Miss
Theresa Bird, London, and Mrs.
Vaughn Daly, London. They
were gowned alike in sheath
style combinations of mauve
(photo by Doerr) velvet and crepe with an empire
FRANCIS DALY waist and blouse effect bodice
featuring long sleeves. They
carried nosegays of purple and
white mums and white velvet
streamers.
Best man was William Warren,
Chatham. Ushers were Lloyd
Simpson, brother of the bride,

The bride's mother greeted

Legion. gall, EXeter, She wore a

accessories and a corsage of

For travelling, the bride
changed to a two piece plum
suit, frilly white dickey, black
accessories and a corsage of
white mums and a white orchid.
The young couple will reside
in London.
Prior to her marriage, the
bride was the guest of honor at
showers in the Exeter Legion
Hall given by Mrs. William Yule,
Mrs. Lloyd Simpson and Mrs.
Harold Chappel; in London at
the home of the hostess, Mrs.
Robbie Montanus; and at
Welwyn Canada Ltd. London,
where fellow employees of the
bride joined together at a shower
with, co-hostesses Miss Theresa.

the chapel of Bishop Cronyn
Memorial Church, London, for
the recent wedding of Nancy
Elizabeth LaFrance and Howie
Martin Wright.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. E. E. La France, London,
and the groom is the son of
William J. Wright, Oshawa, and
the late Martha Wright.
Dr. A. J. Gordon Baker
performed the marriage.
On the arm of her
grandfather, Charles Osborn,
London, the bride wore a
street-length dress of White
basket weave wool. The
styling was enhanced with
„elhoW-length trumpet sleeves
embroidered with gold, She
wore a sheulder-length Pure silk
illusion veil held by a peau de
sole halo and parried white roses
and stephanotis.

was Mrs. Douglas Fox, London.
Robert S. Wright, uncle of
the groom, Toronto, attended
the groom and Peter A. Deane,
cousin of the bride, London,
ushered the guests.
The reception was at the
bride's home,
Mr. and Mrs. Wright are
residing in Exeter where the
groom is an employee of The

officiated at New Lowell United
Church recently for the wedding
of Linda Patricia Leah Creek to
Leroy Percy Workman.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Allen Creek, RR 1
Stayner, and the groom is the
son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Percival Workman.
White snapdragons and mums
and pink carnations decorated
the church for the service.
Escorted by her father, the .
bride wore a floor-length white
gown of lace over taffeta. In
Centennial styling, the dress
featured a fitted bodice with
lace lilypoint sleeves and a lace
yoke forming a batteau neckline.
The full skirt was accented with
three-tiers edged with lace
ruffles. Her headpiece of
rhinestone-studded roses held a
French illusion veil and she
carried a bouquet of red roses,
white stephanotis and ivy
around, a single white orchid.
Her attendants were. Miss
Linda Sneddon, Barrie; Mrs,
Lloyd Bender, Crediton; and
Mrs, Elizabeth Creek, Staynor.
They were gowned alike in

President Mrs. Keith McLaren
was in charge of the meeting.
Mrs. Harold Kendrich opened

some singing.
Roll call was answered with a
scripture verse containing the
word "peace". A duet was sung
by Mrs. Eldon Miller and Mrs.
Elmer Desjardine.
Mrs. Norman Kleinfeldt gave
a reading. Others taking part in
the program were Mrs. Arthur
Jones, Mrs. Ross, Mrs. Blanchard
and Mrs. F. Rhude.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Blanchard and Mrs. Edgar
Cu dmore.

Hurondale gets flag
from Mrs. H. Strang
HONEYMOON IN EUROPE—A motor trip through Europe
followed the' wedding of Karel Diane Hodgert and Richard John
Gillingham in Toronto. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Chas. W. Hodgert, Toronto, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Andrew Gillingham, Lindsay. The newlyweds will reside in Germany
where the groom is employed with the Bank of Montreal.

William Huntley was the
guest speaker at Hurondale WI.
His topic was drugs with special
emphasis on poisonous drugs
and how they should be kept
out of the way of children.
He gave each member a
pamphlet put out by National
Drug and Chemical Co. entitled,
"If it is not food, it is Poison."
He said it should hang where it
can be seen at all times.
The roll call was "A
household product which is
poisonous."
Mrs. Hugh Love chaired the
meeting and led a sing song.
Safety Hints were given by Mrs.
John Pym.
The motto given by Mrs. Bev
Morgan was "Take a second
look; you haven't a second life."
A few highlights of the life of
Prime Minister Sir Robert
Borden were given by Mrs. Bruce
Tuckey.
Delightful selections on the
accordion by Vincent Glaab and
Martin Dykstra were played.
In the absence of the
president, the first vice-president
Mrs. Harold Patterson took over.
Report of the District
Directors meeting in Hensall was
given by Mrs. Wm Dougall.
Mrs. Harry Strang donated a
table-size Canadian flag to be
used at future meetings in
appreciation of the potted mums
which the Institute had sent to
her home when she was elected
Area President. When her term
finished, a $10 donation was
made to the WI work in
Northern Ontario.
Mrs. Wm Lamport gave a

Chicago and spent the week with
their daughter and son-in-law Dr.
& Mrs. Gerald Tarsitano and
family.
