Changes taking place this ,month • istrit:-t clergymen moving • FIRST VOTER AT HURON PARK—For the first time in Stephen township history, a municipal polling booth was set up at Huron Park. Although, former CFB Centralia voters were eligible for the 1963 election, they cast their ballots in the village of Centralia. Anderson served in the parish of St, Stephen's, Gorrie, with Trinity, Fordwich, and St. James', Wroxeter; and later as assistant curate at St. James' (Westminster) London, before taking up his present post in Chatham two years ago. Mr. Anderson served in the R.A.F. with the rank of Flight Lieutenant, being awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He held managerial posts in the seed And grain trade in Ireland and in Canada, and as a layman was a member of the General Synod of the Church of Ireland. Memorial Anglican Church, Exeter, and St, Paul's Church, Hensall, Mr. Anderson is presently the incumbent of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Chatham. The new appointment will be effective. January 15, 1969. Mr. Anderson was born in Lurgan, Ireland, where he received his early education. He received his theological training at Seager Hall and was ordained by Bishop Appleyard in 1962 and was priested the year following. After ordination Mr. Three clerics from the area have accepted posts in other parishes with moves taking place this month. Rev. John C. Boyne, rector at Caven Presbyterian Church in. Exeter, Carmel Church in Hensall and Cromarty Presbyterian Church has announced he will accept a call to Alexandra Church in Brantford. Rev. Boyne, who once wrote a weekly column for the T-A entitled "One Man's Opinion", said he and his family will leave Exeter at the end of the year. Active in the community, Rev. Boyne served on SHDHS board, ran in the last provincial election as the NDP candidate for Huron, and following the Liberal convention which chose Pierre Elliott Trudeau as leader of the party, was a nominee at the meeting of Huron Liberals who chose Mait Edgar. His successor at the three-point charge is still not known, Our Lady of Mount Carmel congregation learned Sunday their priest, Father Adrian Jansen will leave the community this week for his new appointment at St. Benedict's in Sarnia. Father Jansen has been at Mount Carmel and at St. Peter's, south of Exeter, for the past three years. His successor is Father Raymond Groome of St. Benedict's in Sarnia. As previously announced, Rev. H.A. Seegmiller is leaving Exeter for Nova Scotia. The Right Reverend G.N. Exeter voters gave him 41 tallies and Usborne only 8. Area voters went to the polls Monday to elect their members to the first Huron County Board of Education. In the Stephen, Usborne and Exeter race where six men contested two seats, Garnet Hicks, Usborne and Clarence • McDonald, Exeter came off the victors. Hicks topped the polls with 716 votes while McDonald was close behind with 658. Both men polled heavily in Exeter where McDonald picked up 479 votes and Hicks got 382. Stephen Township also supported Hicks well where 178 votes were cast in his favor. Usborne residents gave Hicks 156 votes. REV. J. C, BOYNE REV. H. A. SEEGMILLER Girls' chorus thrills association at annual McDonald earned 98 votes in Stephen and 81 in Usborne. All other candidates polled well in their home municipalities but failed to get support from voters in the other two municipalities in the new ward comprising Stephen, Usborne and the town of Exeter. Eldrid Simmons placed third with 412 votes in Exeter, 94 in Stephen and 41 in Usborne. Stephen Township farmer Lloyd Lamport was next with 378 votes in Stephen, 120 in Exeter and 41 in Usborne. John Stewart, Usborne led the pack in his home municipality with 203 votes but counted only 183 votes from Exeter and 66 from Stephen. Zurich; and Elzar Masse, Zurich. The Rev. D. S. Who Needs Mistletoe When the Gifts are 3 • The girl's choir of the Opportunity Workshop and Training Centre travelled from London to entertain the general meeting of the South Huron and District Association for the Mentally Retarded Wednesday evening. These young adults gave a special treat with their lively and enthusiastic singing under the direction of Mrs. Marie Zeelenberg and accompanied at the piano by Mrs. George Simmons. Mrs. Simmons also wrote the words to "We Are The Workshop Trainees" and the words and music to their Centennial song "Canada, My Home". Al C art i e r, , workshop manager, issued an invitation to anyone going past 571 Richmond Street, in London during the day, to' drop in for a tour of their Workshop. An election of officers followed the Choir and ,the following persons were elected to the Board of Directors for the 1969 term: Mrs. Charles Smith, Exeter; Mrs. George Dobbs, Exeter; Mrs. Gerald Godbolt, Exeter; Mrs. James Kneale, Grand Bend; Mrs. Lorne Passmore, Exeter; Mrs. Donald Purdy, Forest; Ivan Sharrow, Dashwood; Mrs. Walter Fydenchuk, Crediton; Raymond Hartman, Zurich; Rev. A. C. Blackwell, Zurich; Albert Lenz, Huron Park; Louis Masse, HENSALL WINNER Hensall and Zurich voters held the balance of power in the Hensall, Zurich and Hay Township election where Jim Taylor and Robert Rowcliffe were contestants for school board. Taylor scored a decisive victory over Rowcliffe with 305 votes in Hensall, 94 in Zurich and 108 in Hay Township for a total of 507. Rowcliffe's score was Hay 159; Hensall 119; and Zurich 10; total 288. Couple honored by Shipka folk SHIPKA Friends, neighbors and relatives gathered at Shipka Community Centre Wednesday evening to honor Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Ratz, who were recently married. The evening was spent playing progressive euchre. Lady winners were: high, Mrs. Harry Sheppard; low, Miss Katherine Ratz. Men winners were: high, Wayne Ratz; low, John Kingma. An address was read by Mrs. Howard Clark and the young couple was presented with four card table chairs by Ross Pickering. PERSONALS Twenty friends pleasantly surprised Mr. & Mrs. Dick Zielman and family with a housewarming party Friday evening. They were presented with a large picture for their home. ' Stuart Sweitzer and' Ferman Snyder are patients in St. Joseph's Hospital at London. Mrs. Mabel Desjardine and Mrs. Rosa Grigg of Grand Bend spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Cam Dorman and family. She got 849 votes with John Broadfoot, Tuckersmith, second with 560. Although Mrs. Kunder's greatest strength was gained in her home municipality where she received 551 votes, -‘,....t.Tuckersmith ratepayers gave her 229 votes, only 48 less than Vern Alderdice of Tuckersmith and 24 more than Broadfoot. She got 47 votes in Stanley and 22 in Bayfield. Broadfoot polled almost three times as many votes in Seaforth as any other candidate except Mrs. Kunder. His score was 205 in Tuckersmith, 235 in Seaforth, 109 in Stanley and 11 in Bayfield. Stanley ratepayers voted heavily in favor of their own Robert Peck who came fourth on the final list of results. Bayfield also supported their own candidate, Dr. Morgan. Smith who earned 145 votes in the Lake Huron village.
