A sensational goal tending
display by Keith Scarborough
kept the Jets in the game in the
first period in 'Port' Elgin. The
veteran Ilderton area. goalie came
up with great .stops- on three
breakawayS to hold the home
club to one goal in the first
period while the Jets were
unable to find the scoring range.
The L-I boys .broke loose' in
the first eight minutes of the
second period to take a 5-1 lead,
Tom Monteith and Bill McIntosh
each scored twice to lead the
attack and. Ron Ryan .added a
single.
Plastic company
expands in west
Daymond Co. Ltd. of
Chatham with operations in
Vancouver, Chatham, Centralia
and Rexdale, this week
announced plans to construct
new extruded plastic pipe
manufacturing facilities and
warehouse in Calgary.
It is part of a multi-million
dollar expansion program
launched by the Daymond
company following its
acquisition by Canada &
Dominion Sugar Co. Ltd. a year
ago. •
As well as the Calgary
project, plans are underway to
produce pipe fittings at the
company's Centralia Industrial
Park plant where there are both
plastic and aluminum extrusion
facilities and fabrication
operations.

Male curling
race is close
After three weeks of
competition in the first draw of
the season of the men's curling
club a three-way tie exists for
first place. Rinks skipped by
Jack Urquhart, Bill MacLean and
Peter Raymond each have a total
of 34 points to lead the way,
Jim Hewitt's foursome has a
33 point record, good for fourth
place and Jack Gaiser's quartet
follows with an even 30 points.
