In. a short speech while
making presentations to the five
Ontario Scholars, provincial
treasurer, the Hon. C. S.
MacNaughton said he was
interested in the remarks of the
valedictorian regarding
university students behaviour.
"Only last week, we
witnessed a student
demonstration at Queen's Park,
it was not an attractive thing to
watch. When you go to
• university, don't -fall into this
trap. I know it's natural for
young people to rebel, but don't
do this just for the sake of
rebelling, - know what you are
rebelling for," added the
provincial treasurer.
The guest speaker for the
evening was C. W. Perry of
Toronto, executive assistant of
the Ontario Secondary Schools
Teachers' Federation.
He told the graduates,
"Before ydu know it,affairs of
our country will be in your
hands. You must work to
develop a healthy attitude
toward the problems of life. Life
is competitive, it has its tests,
you have to come through."
"There will be stormy days
ahead. Keep you head up high
and hope in your heart and
don't be afraid. Life will be good • to you," added the guest
speaker.
The school choir under the
direction of Mrs. M. Park
provided several numbers during
the program. Principal J, L.
Wooden was the chairman.
Wooden told the graduating
class, "You must accept
responsibility of determining the
course of future events."
The Year Book staff prize.
was presented by Carol Gascho
to William Jeffrey. A prize`
donated by the teaching staff
was received by Joan Pepper
• from staff member Ron Bogart.
Mrs. William Brock presented
the Beta Sigma Phi award to
Louise McBride and Dorothy
Wagner was recipient of the
Kinette prize, presented by Mrs.
v Robert Callingham.
