Stored in the barn was a large supply of auto parts and a 1937 Willys four-door sedan that had been completely refinished. T-A photo. Staffa No. 1 girls under the leadership of Mrs. Spencer Jeffery and Mrs. Bert Daynard presented an exhibit, "Traditions in Embroidery" with Sandra Gray as commentator. Staffa No. 2 girls under the leadership of Mrs. John Wallace and Mrs. Charles . Douglas presented a skit "Let's get ready to Embroider" with Janet Allen, Heather McPhail and Julie Ann Elliott taking part. County honours were awarded to Heather McPhail, Staffa No. 2, for successfully completing six 4-H Homemaking clubs. Provincial honours were awarded to Brenda Kerslake Staffa No. 2 for successfully completing twelve 4-H Homemaking clubs. Advance honours were awarded to Mrs. Joyce Vivian for successfully completing 19 4-H Homemaking clubs. UNITED CHURCH WOMEN The November meeting of the UCW of Calvary United Church was in charge of the literature and communications committee with Mrs. Don Gaiser convener. The theme was "Armistice and Japan". The committee sang The Battle Hymn of the Republic. The poem "In Flanders Field" was read by Mrs. Sid Baker. Rev. Bruce Guy had the chapter in the study book on Japan. Mrs. Jessie Rader read the scripture. President Mrs. Eben Weigand dealt with the business. It was decided to get books from the Huron County' mobile rather than buy. January will be the month for used clothes for Missions. Mrs. Harry Hoffman's group will be in charge of the Christmas dinner. Lunch was served by the program committee. PERSONALS Jim Becker arid David Rader were among a group of area hunters in the North Bay region last week. They had little success. The Christmas .meeting is to be held at the home of Mrs. James Donaldson the afternoon of December 11. Ernest Harvey Lewis, 67, 29 Giles St., London, formerly of Clandeboye, passed away Friday in Victoria Hospital, London. Survivors include his wife, the former Annie Armitage; three sons, Arnold Lewis and Cecil Lewis, both of Clandeboye; Gerald Lewis of Lucan; one daughter, Mrs. Orval (Dorothea Ann) Taylor, Brockville; and 13 grandchildren. The body rested at C. Haskett and Son Funeral Home, Lucan, where the service was held Monday with the Rev. R.A. Carson officiating. Interment was in St. James Cemetery. Pallbearers were Donald Simpson, Garfield Latta, London, Maurice Simpson, Clandeboye, Cliff Abbott, G.G. Lewis, and Clarence Lewis, Lucan. Flowerbearers were seven grandchildren, Douglas Lewis, Larry Lewis, Phillips Lewis, Cathy Taylor, Brenda Lewis, Steven Taylor and Billy Lewis. The deceased was the son of William Lewis and Emma Abbott, born on the second concession of Biddulph in 1901. He was married in 1922. He spent 40 years in the trucking business. While residing in this community, he served on the public school board, Lucan Community Memorial Centre board and as a choir member at St. James Anglican Church. Mr. Lewis resided on his farm until 1965 when he and his wife moved to London. 4-H IN ARVA Saturday at Arva, more than 150 members of 4-H clubs met at Medway High School. Mrs. R.B. Worthington and the 24 girls who had completed their course, rented a bus to attend. Miss Donna Stewart, Middlesex home economist, John Prance, Exeter, visited Mr. & Mrs. H. Prance Friday. Mrs. Chris Moore and Mrs. Barbara Eisenschenk and family of Exeter visited Mr. & Mrs. H, Prance Saturday. Mrs. Gordon Gotelaer Jr., returned home Wednesday from a short stay in Chatham General Hospital.
