Remembrance Day. •
Mis. T.J.' -Sherritt gave a
detailed report of the treasury.
Mrs. James McAllister reported
for the bale pocked. Tuesday
which included 11 cartons, nine
for Toronto (overseas) and two
for the-Salvation Army, London.
Visitation reported ninety
calls. This unit is responsible for
church flowers and nursery this
month,.
Some . arrangements were
made for Christmas cheer for
patients at the Ontario Hospital,
Goderich.
Nominating committee was
appointed. Members are Mrs.
James McAllister, Mrs. N.E. Cook
and Mrs. R.M.. Peck.

A debate, "Has Modern
Society destroyed the Religious
Significance of Christian Holy
Days?" was the main theme of
the Hi-C meeting held in the
Fellowship Hall of Hensall
United Church.
Moderator for the discussion
period was Mary Mock. Her
co-conveners were Pam Taylor
and Douglas Mock.
Present sale of United Church
calendars was reported to be
brisk.
Coneveners for the November
24 meeting will be Lynda
Ferguson, Anne Keys and Larry
Ferguson.

Rev. Harold E. Currie gave the
Hensall lady
died Tuesday
Residents of Hensall and
community were saddened to
learn of the sudden passing of
Mrs. Ervin J. Willert, a highly
esteemed resident of Hensall
who passed away suddenly in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London,
Tuesday in her 73rd year.
She was the former Luella
Wainer. Mrs. Willert was an
active member of St. Peter's
Lutheran Church, Zurich and a
valued member of Hensall
Women's Institute.
Surviving are one son, Harold,
RR 2 Hensall; two daughters,
Mrs. Ross (Beatrice) Richardson,
RR 1 Zurich; Mrs. Pearl Koehler,
Hensall; 21 grandchildren and 14
great-grandchildren; four
brothers, Gordon, California;
Garnet, Detroit; John, Port
Severn; and William, B.C.; two
sisters, Mrs. Pearl Mousseau,
Zurich and Mrs. George (Arletta)
Hess, Zurich.
The body is resting at the
Bonthron Funeral Home. Public
service is from' St. Peter's
Lutheran Church, Zut•ich, Friday
at 2 p.m. conducteds by Rev. A.
C. Blackwell. *,
Interment is in St. Peter's
Lutheran cemetery.

VETERANS MARCH AT HENSALL—The annual 'Remembrance Day
parade was held at Hensall Sunday morning with services at the Hensall
United Church following a wreath laying ceremony at the cenotaph,

from South Huron District High
School from Hensall and district
went by train from London in a
reserved coach to Ottawa where
they toured the Parliament
Building, viewed parliament in
session from the gallery, toured
the. Royal Mint, Museum of
Science and Technology and the
city of Ottawa. They left
Thursday at noon and arrived
home at 2 a.m. Sunday. Over 100
students took the trip. While in
Ottawa they stayed at the Hotel
Chateau. Laurier. They were
accompanied by five teachers.
Charles Mickle flew home
from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania,
where he is attending University,
to spend the weekend with his
parents, Mr. & Mrs. Laird Mickle.
He arrived Friday morning in
Hensall.
Mrs. Emma Downs, London,
was a weekend guest with Mrs.
Grace Harpole and Mrs. Olive
Horton. She also attended the
Mitchell Anniversary Saturday.
Mrs. Pearl Shaddick is
spending a week with friends in
Stratford.
Miss Ann Mickle, and Robert,
UWO London, spent Saturday
with their parents, Mr. & Mrs.
Laird Mickle.
Jim Venner, who has been a
patient in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter, for four weeks, was
admitted to St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, on. Saturday for further
treatment for his health.
Mrs. Al Kyle is a patient in
Clinton Public Hospital.
Al Corbett spent the weekend
with his brother-in-law and sister,
Mr. & Mrs. Robert Chaffe and
family at Mitchell.
Mrs. Orville Smith is a patient
in Clinton Public Hospital.
Mrs. Ruth Carter of Clinton,
formerly of Hensall, is a patient
in Clinton Public Hospital where
she underwent surgeryrMonday.
Mrs. Pearl Shaddick is
spending two weeks with
relatives in Stratford.
Mrs. John Corbett was a
recent visitor with her son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Robert
Hensall pair
wed 40 years
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Mitchell,
RR 1 Hensall, observed their
fortieth wedding anniversary
Sunday. Their daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elgin
Hendrick, RR 1 Grand Bend,
arranged a family party in their
honor at their home Saturday
evening.
A social hour was spent in
playing progressive euchre. A
smorgasbord supper followed.
The celebrants were presented
with many beautiful gifts
including a purse of money.
Their marriage was solemnized
in Hensall United Church Manse
40 years ago by the late Rev:
Arthur Sinclair. Following their
marriage, they lived on the
Mitchell homestead farm east of
Hensall, where they have resided
ever since.
They have one daughter, Mrs.
Hendrick, and two grandchildren.
