The Ladies Aid of Carmel
Presbyterian Church sponsored a
bazaar, bake sale and tea in the
church school rooms Saturday
afternoon which - was very
successful. Proceeds were very
gratifying.
The Women's Missionary
Society of Carmel Presbyterian
Church met in the Sunday
School rooms of the church
Monday evening. President Mrs.
R. A. Orr opened the meeting.
Devotional study was given
by Mrs. Glenn Bell and Mrs.
Harvey Hyde. Seventeen visits
were reported by the members
to sick, shut-ins and newcomers.
The president of Huron
Presbyterial, Mrs. Jack Pollock,
Goderich, who is in London,
England with her mother sent a
letter of resignation.
Mrs. Orr and Mrs. Gordon
Schwalm are on the nominating
committee for Huron
Presbyterial. A letter was also
read from missionary Miss Isabel
Taylor of Tamsui, Taiwan.
Members were pleased to get
the Explorer Manual and study
packet for the new children's
group to get started.
The Christmas meeting will
be held Monday, December 2
with Home Helpers and Arnold

church Wednesday afternoon.
The program was convened
by Mrs. Philip Johns & Mrs. Win.

afternoon were the ladies from
Braemore Manor at Exeter,
Mrs. Allen Johns spoke and
showed pictures of the trip that
she and Mrs, Verna Johns of St.
Thomas enjoyed this past
summer to the Maritime
Provinces,
Mrs. Ross Skinner
accompanied by Mrs, Freeman
Horne led in a singsong of hymns.

special guest speaker and lunch
will be served.
President Mrs. Harvey Hyde
chaired a brief meeting for the
Ladies' Aid which followed the
WMS meeting.
The group will have a quilting
and pot luck dinner at the
church Tuesday.
New dentist
for district
The new dental office of Dr.
R.G. Eickmei9r was officially
opened in Zurich Monday
morning by Ray McKinnon,
manager of the Bank of
Montreal in Zurich, and
chairman of a special committee
of the Zurich Chamber of
Commerce who sponsored the
project after many long hours of
negotiations.
It is the first time in 25 years
that the community has had the
services of a dentist.
Dr. Eickmeier comes to the
community highly
recommended and was one of
the top students in his class at
the University of Detroit.
Sunday service
of remembrance
Remembrance Day Service
under the auspices of Hensall
Branch of the Canadian Legion
468 will be observed Sunday
with a service and the plaeing of
wreaths at the' Cenotaph at
10:45 a.m.
A parade headed by Exeter
Legion Pipe l3and, Legion,
Auxiliary, Guides and Brownies
and their leaders will march to
the United Church where service
held at 11 a.m, with Rev.
Harold F. Currie as the speaker.

Legion ladies
nominate slate
The Hensall Ladies Auxiliary
met in the Legion Hall Tuesday
evening for their November
meeting. President Mrs. Garnet
Allan was in charge.
Members in conjunction with
Exeter Legion Ladies Auxiliary
will go to Westminster Hospital
November 13 to entertain the
veterans there.
The Christmas party for
children of the members will be
held December 15. At the
December Christmas meeting,
members will exchange gifts.
Nominations for 1969 slate
of officers were held.
Tickets for the money doll
draw were handed out to the
members.
Mrs. Stan Kochan won the
mystery prize; Mrs. Hilda Smale,
the guessing prize; and the
attendance prize went to Mrs.
Garnet McClinchey.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kyle
Sr., were married 65 years
Wednesday. Their family held a
surprise dinner for them at the
Kyle home on Brock Street
Sunday.
The couple received many
gifts, flowers and congratulatory
messages.
Married in the Anglican
Parish, Hensall, Mr. Kyle is the
son of the late Mr. and. Mrs.
William Kyle, formerly of
Tuckersmith. and Mrs. Kyle is
Mrs. Gus Voth of
Birmingham, Mich., spent the
weekend with her mother, Mrs.
Louise Simpson. Mrs. Simpson
accompanied her daughter back
to Birmingham where she will
spend the winter months.
Forty-four members of
Amber Rebekah Lodge went by
chartered bus Saturday night to
tape the program "Act Fast"
which will be presented by
CFPL—TV London, Sunday.
Mrs. Cecil Pepper is a patient
in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter, where she is receiving
treatment.
Mrs. Bertha MacGregor was a
recent visitor with Mrs. Eric
Munroe in Seaforth.
Mr. & Mrs. Harold Parker and
Patsy were recent visitors with
Mr. & Mrs. Robert Keyes at
Grand Bend.
Eleven members of Amber
Rebekah Lodge, Hensall,
attended the Dessert Euchre
held at Huronic Rebekah Lodge,
Clinton, Wednesday afternoon
of last week, followed with a
bake sale.
Two bowling teams from
Hensall Legion Ladies' Auxiliary
participated in a bowling
tournament at Exeter last
Wednesday. Mrs. Grant
McClinchey's team won a
consolation prize. Other prizes
were won by Mrs. Ted Roberts
and Mrs. Hilda Smale.

Mrs. Menno Kipfer of Waterloo

They farmed on the Parr Line
in Hay Township, retiring to
Hensall 35 years ago.
They have a family of four
sons, Russell, St. Catharines;
Roy, Timmins; Byran and Dave,
Hensall; two daughters, Mrs.
Clare Tuckey, London; Mrs.
Arnold Merner, Zurich; 16
grandchildren and 10 great
grandchildren.

Toronto visited last week with
the former's aunt, Mrs. Ella
Walker.

Kippen enjoyed a motor trip to
Buffalo and Detroit.

attended the concert presented
by The London Symphony
Orchestra Wednesday of last
week in the Centennial Hall,
London. The guest artist for the
evening was the great violinist,
Oscar Shumsky.
Captain John R. Beer of
Winnipeg, Man., spent the
weekend with his parents, Mr. &
Mrs. Fred Beer, and visited other
relatives and friends.

to her home after receiving
treatment in South Huron
Hospital, Exeter.

Schroeder, to Gayle Wayne
Cooper, son of Mr, and. Mrs,

The bride's gown featured a
slim satin sheath with daisy trim
under a crocheted-lace 'cage'
ending in a cathedral train. She
carried a white orchid and white
sweetheart roses with touches of
purple star flowers and baby's
breath set in netting and tied
with streamers and lovers' knots.

evening in Russeldale Hall.
Everyone enjoyed a delicious
turkey dinner prepared and
served by the Glen Gowrie
Women's Institute.
Murray Dalrymple, Fire Chief
of Mitchell, spoke and showed a
film on fire safety.
Progressive euchre was
enjoyed with prizes awarded to
ladies high, Miss Olive Speare;
ladies low, Mrs. Penelope Fell;
gents high, Cameron Vivian;
gents low, George Vivian; lone
hands, Mrs. Ray McDonald.
4-H GIRLS
The eighth meeting of the
Staffa Stitchers 4-H was held at
the home of Mrs. Bert Daynard
recently.
This meeting was held mainly
to discuss and prepare for
Achievement Day which is to be
held in Mitchell November 16.

the couple left for a honeymoon
to Cape Cod, the bride travelling
in a pale pink silk peau de sole
coat dress and pearl gray shoes
and purse.
The couple will reside in
Clinton.

Hospital for four weeks, having
suffered a stroke.

Sunday after being in South
Huron Hospital, Exeter.
