Lobo, on her 90th birthday.

family, Lansing, Michigan; Mr. &

relatives from Leamington,
London and surrounding area
attended the celebration.
Mrs. Harlton has 13
grandchildren and 31 great
grandchildren.
Her only surviving daughter is
Mrs. Philip Vercoe, Mesa,
Arizona, who was unable to
attend as her husband is in ill
health,

Mr. & Mrs. David Kestle and
daughter Janis visited Mrs. M.
Estes, Madison Heights,
Michigan recently. Mrs. Emily
Kestle of Exeter returned home
after a week in Madison Heights.
They visited at Belleview
Hospital with Mrs. E. Rinshed
and David Hall, sister and
brother of Mrs. Emily Kestle.
The Modern Misses held their
sixth meeting at the home of
Mrs. R, Worthington Saturday.
Twenty-four girls attended.
Home economist. Miss Donna
Stewart, London, is planning to
visit the club October 19. The
girls have taken seven different
stitches and now are working on
free choice articles.
Lloyd Lynn is improving at
St. Joseph's Hospital, London.
Ernie Bice is slightly improved
and Ernie Lewis remains about
the same at Victoria Hospital.
Kenneth Welsh will have
charge of the service in the
United Church Sunday.

James ACW packed a bale at the
home of Mrs. Emily Tomes.

services Sunday afternoon at St.
Patrick's Church, Saintsbury,
assisted by the Rector, Rev.
Samuel Bell, Kirkton.
Ten candidates were
confirmed: Marlene Hodgins,
Gwendolyn Hodgins, Violet
Acres, Mrs. Dianne Beatson, Mrs.
Laura Carter and Mrs. Nancy
Hodgins of St. Thomas Church,
Granton; Joyce Cunningham,
Lucille Cunningham, Gary
Barker and Michael Davis of St.
Patrick's Church.
The Bishop addressed the
candidates taking as his topic
"Road Signs". He spoke of the
changing church, challenging
them to be steadfast and not to
desert.
Mrs. Tom Kooy was at the
organ, William Lambourne,
London, was soloist, and Larry
Greenlee carried the bishop's
staff.
A social hour was enjoyed
following the service.
40TH ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Heber Davis
observed their 40th wedding
anniversary on Thursday and
were dinner guests with the
latter's sister and brother-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Atkinson,
Lucan.
Other guests were Mr. and
Mrs. Ivan Stanley, Denfield, and
Mr. and Mrs. Willard Garrett,
London. All enjoyed an evening
of euchre.
Saturday evening, Mr. and
Mrs. Davis were honoured by the
members of their family to a
dinner at the Dufferin House,
Centralia. The bride of 40 years
was presented with an orchid by
her eleven grandchildren, and a
ruby brooch and ear ring set.
The groom received ruby cuff
links and matching tie tack.
They also were presented with a
ruby glass bon bon dish.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Tindall
invited the 25 family members
to their home for the remainder
of the evening.

Start building
at Goderich
Construction of the new
$115,365 county assessment
building began Monday at the
site next to the county jail in
Goderich.
The Contract for the two
story building has been let to
Montiet h-McGarth Limited,
Waterloo.
Authorization for the
construction of the building was
given at a special meeting at
county council August 27, and
subsequent approval was
received from the Ontario
Municipal Board.
The building is expected to be
completed by mid-December
and be ready for occupancy by
January 1. The decision to
construct a new assessment
building had been made during
the June session of this year.
In addition to the county
assessment department, it is
believed the new building will
also house the offices of the
newly formed county planning
board and as some offices of the
justice department would
require more space in the county
building,• other offices would be
moved to the new building to
make 'room.
Original estimate Wag set at
$90,000 and (hiring the special
meeting of county council,
queries had been raised
concerning the added costs.
Architect Don Snider replied to
questiOns that sub-trade costs
had been higher than estimated
but that he thought the building
would " be just right fOr the
purpose for which it is
intended,

E. Greenlee were celebrating
their 20th anniversary. Sunday,
Mr. and Mrs. Orland Squire
entertained the Greenlee's on

birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Davis
were guests Saturday evening at
the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Malcolm Dougall, Hensall, when
the Presbyterian Church Choir
held a social evening and
presentation of lamps to
newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Wayne
Love. Mr. Love is a member of
the choir and Mrs. Love was the
former Sharon Davis.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dobbs,
Freddie and Patti were guests
Saturday with Mr.and Mrs.
William Hill, Strathroy.
H.S. McLean, who has been
holidaying with the Dobb's
family, returned to his home in
Teeswater Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Shoebottom and son spent
Sunday evening with Mr. and
Mrs. Bob Tindall and family.
Mr. and Mrs. George Carroll,
Detroit, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Carroll and Wayne were guests
with Mr. and Mrs. Ron Carroll
and Ian and Brenda before Mr.
and Mrs. George Carroll returned
to their home.
Bill Johnson returned home
Friday evening from the hunting
trip and was lucky in bagging a
moose whose antlers measured
52 inches.
OMISSION
In last week's account of the
Love-Davis wedding, the names
of Miss Kathy Love, niece of the
groom as flowergirl, and Jammie
Mugford, cousin of the bride as
ringbearer, were omitted.
MRS. BILLY DOBBS
Word was received Saturday
of the death of Mrs. Billy Dobbs
at London. Mrs. Dobbs, the
former Winnie Essery, lived in
the Centralia-Saintsbury area for
many years.
She was a member of St.
Patrick's Church for a number of
years and was treasurer of the
WA.
Mr. Dobbs predeceased his
wife in 1951. She is survived by
two sons, Joseph and Thomas,
both of London; six
grandchildren; and two sisters,
Mrs. Iva Turner, London, and
Mrs. Hazel Anderson, Montreal.
The funeral was conducted
Monday from the Millard-George
funeral home, London, to St.
Jame's Cemetery, Clandeboye.

A Poem was given by Mrs.
Earl Morley. A reading on china
was read by Mrs. N, Lewis
followed by a poem given by
Mrs. Pickering. President Mrs.
Fenton then opened the business
part of the 'Meeting with
meditation. Roll call showed 12
members and one visitor present.
