The saddle division line events were won by Jean. Anne Denornme, Kathy Ecker, Janet Ecker and Tom Baker. Eaton Company tray. Donald is shown above, left, with Bill Weber, RR 3 Dashwood who had the best junior heifer. Other winners were Grant Jones, RR 2 Hensall, with the champion beef heifer and Bert Visscher, Hay, best dairy heifer and top dairy class showman. Jack Snell of Exeter was well up in the running with 12 firsts and the same-number of seconds, Entries of William Dickey and Son of RR 1, Woodham took three firsts. and four seconds to top the rabbit class. Robert Morley of Granton gained a first . and third award while Jeff Lindenfield and John Dobbs, both of Exeter were each successful in taking one second prize, Whitney Coates led the Hereford cattle division with four firsts, three seconds and two thirds along with one Hereford Special. The other Hereford Special went to W.S. 0.Neil of Penfield who also won three first and two seconds. Russel Parker, Watford took eight firsts, including both specials in Shorthorns and five seconds. Jack Coates of Centralia gained one first, one second and four thirds in the same division. The only other entrant Frank Falconer, Clinton, took two thirds and two fourths. Alex Edwards of Arva captured five firsts and two seconds in the Polled Angus section while Richard Doan, Thorndale took three firsts, a second and three thirds and Shouleane Farms, Stratford captured two firsts and four seconds. The baby beef competition was headed by Whitney Coates, with Paul Passmore, Bryan Miller, Beth Passmore, Linda Hem, Marlene Stewart and Russel Parker following in that order. Exeter's Gerald Dearing swept the Dorset Horn sheep class with six firsts, , three seconds and one third. S.M. Blair, RR 1 Bolton dominated the Suffolks division while W.E. Gates, Glencoe and Raymond Comfort shared honors in the Shropshire section. Jim Snell, Clinton had the best Lincolns and Cotswolds with seven firsts. Special awards were taken by Gerald Dearing, Gates and Comfort. etoft Re/Ana Wet weather has temporarily held up the white bean harvest. Warm, humid days may have an adverse effect on pulled beans. Yields of 10 to just over 30 bushels per acre have been reported with many fields at 18 to 22 bushels per acre. Quality, so far, has been good. Corn is maturing very well. Silo filling is the order of the day on many farms. Wheat appears to be germinating uniformly in most areas. Rescue race, Mousseau, Jim Rundle, Bilyea; Cloverleaf barrel, Mousseau, Bilyea, George Beer; Musical chairs, Bilyea, Danny Turvey, Janet McDowell. Western pleasure, Tom Baker, Mousseau, Nancy Swartz. Children's equitation, under 16 — Swartz, Wayne Preszcator, Trudy Johns. Equitation, 12 and under, Johns, Jeff Darling, Turvey. In the hunter class, Shirley Fraser of Woodstock won three events with Goldie Tidy of London capturing a pair of first prizes. Oliver Bannerman, RR 2 Monkton, took the only Clyde class that drew contestants, was best in the wagon horse team division and won two firsts in the Belgian events. Ralph Kent won three events in the wagon class and Orville Bestard, Thorndale was best in the Percheron team division. Walter Clarke captured the four-horse and tandem hitch events. Mac Armstrong captured two firsts in the roadster division while Walter Clarke and Byron Vansickle each took a first in the carriage classes. Ed Fitzsimmons, Thorndale took two firsts for hackney ponies and Jones Pony Farms took six first for Shetlands. Gayle Ecker of Exeter had the best shetland pony of any age on halter and Rick Schwartzentruber won the shetland saddle race.
