Grade nine students were servants for grades 12 and 13 and were busy every spare minute in earring books and doing any tasks or tricks requested. J, TEMPLEMAN STAFFA The third meeting of the Staffa Stitchers. Needlecraft Club was held at the home of Mrs. Spencer Jeffery last Tuesday. The uses of the blanket stitch, previously learned, were outlined by Mrs. Jeffery. Mrs. Bert Daynard illustrated the enlarging of a design. Mrs. Jeffery demonstrated the basic featherstitch and two of the many variations, the closed and the double. The remainder of the meeting was spent in attempting this stitch. PERSONALS Bob Templeman, Guelph University, spent the weekend at his home here. Mrs. Cecil Bowman is enjoying a bus tour of the Eastern Provinces. Miss' Joanne Templeman was a guest at the Engel-Capling wedding held in the Lutheran church at Monkton Saturday. Mrs. William Lamport, Exeter, visited this past week with Mrs. Mary Miller. Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Miller, Janet and Edna, returned home Sunday from a motor trip north, going by Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie to Port Arthur and Fort William. Group 2 decided to name their club the Missing Stitch. UCW MEETS The afternoon Unit of Grand Bend United Church Women met Thursday with 13 members present. Mrs. Wellwood Gill conducted the opening worship. Mrs. Emery Des Jardine introduced the new Study Book on China. Mrs. Alex Hamilton, presided for the business when it was decided to leave the layette over, until the October meeting. Lunch was served by Mrs. Mansel Mason. favoured with a solo. A story "A Letter to Agatha" was read by Mrs. Bill Spence, Mrs. Fred Parkinson introduced the new study 0094 "China". The business was conducted by President Mrs. Strahan, Lunch was served by committee in charge. PERSONALS Mr. & MP.
