HOOPER BLANSHARD The first meeting of the "Crafty Crusaders" was held at the home of Mrs. Ken Parkinson recently. The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge followed by the roll call which was answered by 10 girls. A discussion was held on the material which would be needed for the club "Needle Craft". The election,pf. officers 'was then held with the following results: President, Linda Johns; vice-president, Helen Harlton; secretary, Arlene Johns; ass't. secretary, Jean Doyle; press reporter, Joy Thacker. The second meeting of the "Crafty Crusaders" was held at the home of Mrs. Jack Thomson. The roll call was answered by 13 girls. The covers for the books we re discussed and Helen Harlton and Beverly' Youngson volunteered to design the covers. The girls discussed the designs for the free choice articles and colour combinations. Mrs. Parkinson and Mrs. Thomson demonstrated the blanket stitch and the girls did a sample of this. , PERSONALS Misses Linda, Cathy and Joy Thacker spent Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Jack Morgan of Brinsley. Girls interested in entering must contact Mr. Cann on or before Monday, September 16. The beauty contest will be part of the Wednesday night program and will follow the baby contest. The 1967 winner was Miss Carol Hendrick, RR 2 Crediton, BABY SHOW Officials of the Exeter Fall Clinton holds fall courses The University of Western Ontario Extension Department is planning to offer three courses in Clinton this coming fall and winter at Central Huron Secondary School. Economics 20 will not be given unless at least 12 students register. These courses are offered particularly for the teachers of Clinton and surrounding area. Classes will be three hours in length and the fall meetings will be held on the following Saturdays: September 28; October 5, 19; November 2, 16, 23; December 7, 14. Beginning on Saturday, September 28 at 9:30 a.m. Dr. R.G. Bates will lecture in English 20 ( Li terature-Composition). Beginning on Saturday, September 28 at 1:30 p.m. Mrs. Anthony Conger will present Psychology 20 (Introduction); and also at 1:30 p.m. a member of the Economics Staff of the University will offer Economics 20 (Introduction) (if at least 12 students register). These three courses to be offered in Clinton will be presented for a', total of 16 three-hour sessions in Central Huron Secondary School and will be open to both credit and non-credit students.
