Mr. & Mrs. Garnet Patterson have moved to their home in Grand Bend. By MRS. IRVIN RADER DASHWOOD Mrs. Charles Martine and Mrs. Dean McKnight were hostesses for a bridal shower for Dorothy Gammie, bride-elect of Saturday, at the community Centre, Wednesday. After several contests, Miss Sharon Martine read an address and Dorothy was recipient of many useful gifts for which she thanked everyone and invited them to visit her in her home at Shipka Mrs. Harold Kraft and Mrs. Elgin Rader were hostesses for a shower at the latter's home, Saturday in honor of Mrs. Arthur Rader, August bride. Mrs. Jim Becker conducted contests after which Mrs. Irvin Rader read an address and Roberta was recipient of many lovely gifts for which she thanked all. RADER PICNIC The 20th Rader picnic was held September 1 with 73 in attendance. Robert Wein, president, welcomed everyone and Mr. & Mrs. Harry Hayter conducted sports. The following were winners: Shelley Howe, Dianne Rader, Brian Rader, Darlene Rader, Keith Taylor, Janice Hayter, Sharon Rader, Marlene Taylor, Lyn Gamble. Kim Gamble, Jim Rader, Niel Gamble. Several special prizes were awarded during the supper hour. Longest name, Mrs. Jack Coleman; guessing contest, Darlene Rader; youngest baby, Heather Rader; youngest grandchild of Henry Rader, Robert Wein; youngest great aunt, •. Rose Laub; most recently married, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rader. It was decided to leave it to the executive to choose the time and Place of next year's picnic. Hensall Women's Institute will resume meetings Wednesday, September 11 with a pot luck supper to be held in the Legion Hall. Supper is at 6:30 pm. Chiselhurst United Church Women will hold their September meeting Tuesday at 8:15 pm. Gary Scholl was soloist at the Carmel Presbyterian Church Sunday morning with Mrs. Malcolm Dougall presiding at the organ consol. Rev. J. C. Boyne delivered the message. This concludes the union services held during July and August. Mr. & Mrs. John Alexander and family spent the holidays at Moosonee and at Sault Ste Marie. Mr. & Mrs. R. A. Orr visited with Melvin Orr at Chesley for the Labour Day holiday. Mrs. George Hess spent the weekend holiday with her daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. J. L. McCloy and family at Don Mills. Mr. & Mrs. Gus Voth of Birmingham, Mich., visited over the weekend holiday with Mrs. Misses Clara and Martha Graupner and Mrs. Louise Meyer, all, of Detroit, with Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Pfile Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Miller accompanied Mr. & Mrs. Harold Maine on a several week trip which took them through Northern Ontario, the Prairie Provinces, and British Columbia. They returned home by way of the United States. Mr. & Mrs. Herbert Bills and family of Caw City, Mich. visited with Mr. & Mrs. Albert Rader and also attended the Rader picnic. PERSONALS Mr. & Mrs. Fred Walker and family, Pittsford, N.Y. and Mrs. Geo. Tomlinson spent last week in Birmingham and Detroit, Mich. Mr. & Mrs. E. R. Guenther accompanied by Mr. & Mrs. Syd Baker enjoyed a Gaspe tour recently, also visiting New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and returning home by way of the United States. Auxiliary plans 1968-69 activity Legion ladies' auxiliary resumed meetings Tuesday evening September 3 in the Legion Hall with president Mrs. Garnet Allan in charge. The, president and the treasurer, Mrs. Grant Bisback, were appointed delegates to the Legion auxiliary convention in Ottawa September 16-19. Plans were made for their annual money doll draw and a 19th birthday party to be held October 1 with a dinner at the Dominion Hotel, Zurich. Mystery prize was won by Mrs. Allan and •the guessing prize by Mrs. Byran Kyle. Girls may join Hensall groups Meetings for Hensall Guides and Brownies will resume for the fall next week at the United Church. Brownies will meet as usual Tuesday after school. Guides will meet on Wednesday evening at 7 o'clock. Any girl who has passed her seventh birthday may apply for registration as a Brownie. Guides must be between 10 and 15 years old. Anita Cook, Phyllis Jackson and Pat Venner will again lead the Brownies? Jean Turner, as Guide Captain, will be assisted by Mary Anne Flynn and Doreen Rowcliffe. St. James event Clandeboye decoration day By MRS. J. H. PATON CLANDEBOYE The annual memorial service and decoration of graves at St. James Church, Clandeboye, was held Sunday with the Rev. Robert A. Carson in charge assisted by Tom Tomes who read the lesson. The Culbert boys trio, Lucan, sang a hymn. Mr. Carson's address noted that people of old erected monuments of stone in memory of those who have gone on before and in memory of great events, thus gravestones and historical markers. Miss Joan Cunningham was the organist. Peoples' warden is Alton O'Neil; the rector's warden, Allan Hill; cemetery superintendant, Andrew Carter; and John C. Murdy, secretary treasurer. Flowers in the church were given by Victoria Lodge LOBA 387, Lucan; Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Carter, in memory of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Carter; and by the Clandeboye Women's Institute." The public address system was supplied through the courtesy of C. Haikett and Sons. PERSONALS At the Clandeboye United Church, the Rev. Hugh Wilson of Exeter will take the services throughout September. At St. James Church, Sunday School will be held at 9:45 a.m. Ernie Lewis, former resident o f the Clandeboye district, suffered a stroke last week and is confined to Victoria Hospital. His wife v;as also admitted to Victoria Hospital Tuesday. Wilfred Logan, Thorndale, is a patient in Victoria Hospital. Ernest Bice, formerly of McGillivray, is improving in Victoria Hospital. Mrs. Florence Roberts, daughter Lynda and son Paul, Scarboro, visited her mother, Mrs. Edith Hodgins and relatives. Mr. & Mrs. Stewart Adkins, North Bay, visited both cemeteries as well as Mr. & Mrs. Rea Neil and Ansley Neil, Exeter. Mr. & Mrs. David Kestle and Janis went to Wiarton, Tobermory and to the Country and Western Music Hall, Hepworth, during the weekend. Mrs, Arnold Blake returned home after spending four weeks with her brother, Jack Gilbert, North Surrey, British Columbia. Melvin Gilbert, Alma, accompanied his daughter on the trip. 4-H GIRLS MEET The 4-H Homemaking Club chose the name "The Clandeboye Modern Misses". They met Saturday with their leader, Mrs. R. B. Worthington and the assistant leader, Mrs. J. Simpson, Lucan. Twenty-five girls have enrolled including Carolyn and Susan Hardy, Betty Scott, Nancy Hardy, Katy Coughlin, Kathryn Worthington, Hazel and Helen Simpson, Joan Donaldson, Margo Rollings, Susan Hill, Helen and Joan Lewis from Clandeboye and Brenda Herbert, Karen Herbert, Mary and Ann Mohr, Judy Froats, Jane Hodgson, Betty Park, Julie Mardy and Arm Mohr, Judy Froats, Jane Hodgson, Betty Park, Julie Hardy, Patsy Snellgrove, Julia Henderson, Nancy Simpson, Donna Snellgrove from Lucati.
