Last Wednesday the Lucan4-.B
corn Club met at the Lucan
Shillelagh with both leaders, Al-
fred OVens and Clarke Rollings
present as well as Ralph Wins-
lade, Assistant Agricultural Re-
presentative, and Paul Wallis
and Mike O'Shea, Calf Club lead-
ers.

Forty Staffa Women's Institute
members and friends enjoyed a
bus trip to Kitchener, Hamilton
and Preston Tuesday.
At Kitchener they enjoyed a
conducted tour through Burns'
meat plant. Then on to Hamilton
where everyone enjoyed a bus
tour of the city and a visit to
Dundurn Castle. At Preston an
enjoyable hour was spent at the
woolen mills.
Transportation for the trip was
provided by Habkirks bus, Sea-
forth.

Misses Karen and Shirley Mil-
ler holidayed last week with their
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.

Last month we reported an

LUCAN OLD TIMERS SHOW
The Lucan "Old Timers" ball
team played a team of younger
lads (aged about 20 years) Thurs-
day at Lucan.
The "Old Timers" rang upthe
astounding score of 20 to 8. Their
pitcher, Bob Taylor, had 16
strike-outs, while the young pit-
cher, Steve Davis, gave up 20
hits.
Another game is scheduled for
tonight (Thursday) at 9:00 p.m.
Eight of the young lads spent
the weekend at Harry Wraith's
cottage at St. Mary's having
cycled there on Friday evening.
PARKS' REUNION
Sunday, 55 descendants of the
late Mr. and Mrs. John Park met
at the Carousel Motel, London,
for a happy reunion.
Guests were present from Lon-
don, Springfield, Ill., Toronto,
Hamilton, Sarnia, St. George,
Winnipeg and Lucan.

morning. It was arranged and.

The call to worship was given
by Mrs. William Froats and the
Bible readings by Mrs. Ivan
Hearn.
The collection was taken by
Mrs. Sheridan Revington and
Mrs. A. L. Kernick.
The speaker, Mrs. S. E. Lewis
of Exeter, after being introduced
by Mrs. William Froats, presi-
dent of the UCW, gave a most
interesting talk on "Holy World-
liness". - Mr. Charles Hare of London
will speak Sunday, August 25.
PENTECOSTAL
The Rev. Gordon MacDonald
was in charge of the usual Sun-
day morning service in Lucan.

the Starlite Drive-In at Shipka.

ANGLICAN
Sunday will be a red letter
Sunday for there will be not
only the regular 11 o'clock ser-
vice, but at 3 p.m. some 200
members of the Royal Black
Knights and Chrystal Ladies'
Chapter from Lambton, Middle-
sex and Huron Counties will meet
at the local Orange Hall and par-
ade to the church.
An invitation is extended to all
Holy Trinity members to attend
this service and a special in-
vitation is extended to members
of other churches to attend and
hear the new rector and the two
bands, ,,Young Conquerors" and
the "Hackett Fife and Drum
Band", both of London.
Sunday, September 1 being dec-
oration service at St. James
Church, Clandeboye, the only
service at Holy Trinity Church
will be Family Communion at
10 a.m.

Turn Signals: Four-way flashers may
be used to indicate a disabled vehicle
or emergency situation. Turn signals
must not be used for this purpose and
should be used only when the motorist
intends to turn, change lanes or move
from a parked position. Effective
September 1, 1968.
Flashing Green Signal Lights permit
exclusive left turns as well as per-
mitting traffic to turn right or proceed
straight through while conflicting
traffic at the intersection is stopped.
Effective September I, 1968.
Pedestrians must not cross the street
on a dashing green traffic light ex-
cept where pedestrian "Walk" sig-
nals are displayed. Then they should
obey signals. Effective September 1,
1968.
Riding in House or Boat Trailers is
prohibited. Effective September 1,
1968.
Walking on Highways with speed
limits of 50 mph or higher may be
prohibited by municipal by-laws.
Effective immediately.
Attaching Oneself to a Moving Vehicle
is prohibited. Effective September 1,
1968.
Licence Suspension up to 30 days for
speeding 30 mph or more over the
limit is now at the discretion of the
convicting magistrate. Effective im-
mediately.
A Resident of Another Province of
Canada who drives in Ontario must
have a valid driver's licence issued by
his province. Such driver must obtain
an Ontario licence upon becoming
an Ontario resident and surrender
his current driver's licence issued by
such other province, Effective immed-
iately,
Used Motor Vehicles: Private Sales:
Unless the new owner of a used motor
vehicle can produce a certificate of
mechanical fitness to the Ontario
Department of Transport (notice of a
sale or transfer must be given within

"Slow moving vehicle" sign of a

Wider Vehicles and Loads. The per-
missible width limit of 96" has been
increased to 102". Effective
immediately.
Motorcycle Helmets that meet speci-
fied standards must be worn by
operators and passengers. Effective
September 1, 1968.
Certain Municipalities may Exempt
Themselves by By-Law from School
Bus Regulation requiring operators
to flash red signal lights when
stopped to pick up or discharge pas-
sengers where the speed limit is over
35 mph (Metropolitan Toronto and
satellites, Metropolitan Ottawa and
satellites, London, Windsor and
Hamilton).
In municipalities that pass such a
by-law, school buses will not flash
red signal lights and other traffic
will not be required to stop. Effective
immediately.
Motorized Snow Vehicles will be
regulated by special legislation.

JR, FARMERS BUS TRIP
Lucan Junior Farmers and a
few friends totalling 32, had a
delightful bus trip to Toronto
last, Saturday. They left the Lucan
Community Centre at '7:30 a.m.
and did not arrive back until
2:30 a.m. Sunday so they really
had a full day.
Their first stop was Casa
Lorna. The rest of the day they
spent at the Toronto Exhibition.
4H CLUB MEETING
The first meeting for this year
will be held at the home of Mrs.

at 9:30 a.m.
