Grain harvest completed,

been hampered by severe lodging.
The corn crop in most areas of
the County is progressing very
well and expected yields look
good.
Some areas of the County re-
port white bean crops somewhat
better than other areas. In some

ence Davis.

and Mrs. Don Leitch and fam-
ily at the lake. Miss Joan Barkl
er, Grand Bend, spent several
days last week with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Barker.

During the past week, a large
percentage of the spring grain
harvest was completed. The mod-
erately temperatured, bright
sunny days were excellent for the
harvest of these crops.
The barley crop has been yield-
ing very well and the grain is of
good quality. Oats and mixed
grains have been fairly good but

union picnic was held at Riverview
Park, Exeter, Sunday with '70
members in attendance.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dickins,
London, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Dickins, Ailsa Craig, were in
charge of a fine program of
sports. Winners were Mrs. W.
Garrett, Mrs. Tom Kooy, Mrs.
Don MacTaggart, Ferlin Sover-
ign, Donna McTaggart, Nancy
Tindall, Michele Pennell, Ann
Paff, Farron Soverign.

the third Sunday in August at
Riverview Park. Friends were

eter, Centralia, Seaforth, New
York, Welland and Ailsa Craig.

Dunville attended the reunion and
spent several days with Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Kooy, Ailsa Craig and
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice MacDon-

Master Jeffrey Young, Lucan,
spent the past week visiting his
cousins, Nancy and Marylou Tin-
dall. This week the three child-
ren are visiting their aunt and

the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arlo
Stucky, Elmwood Subdivision, to
honor the birthdays of Mrs, Nor-
man Turnbull, Mrs. Arnold Des
Jardine and Hugh Hendrick.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence John-
son, Nancy and Neva, attended a
family picnic and shower for
Neva, bride-elect of September
on the weekend at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Johnson and
Bonnie, Tavistock.
Mr. and Mrs. Keith Charlton,
Karen and Gary of Mount Bryd-
ges and Mrs. Nettie Charlton of
London visited Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. W. Gill,
Mary Lou, Cindy and Shelley

The first of several busy.ses-
sions at the Exeter plant of Can-
adian Canners has been com-
pleted.
' Local manager Jack Urquhart
reported Tuesday morning that
the pea pack was completed last
week and mixed vegetables con-
sisting of peas and carrots are
being wound up this week.
Urquhart said both yield and
quality of peas were well above
average.
The first of the 1968 corn crop
should arrive at the Exeter
factory sometime next week. The
local manager said, ,,We have
been pleasantly surprised with
the progress of the corn during
the past few days and should
have an excellent yield. At the
moment we are busy recruiting
help and still have some openings.
Applications have been a little
slower coming in this year."
