day in honor of her daughter,,
Sharon, bride-elect of this week.

Lightfoot and Sharon assisted by

The tea table was attractive
with a lace cloth centred with
a floral arrangement of yellow
and bronze mums flanked by
yellow candles in silver holders.
Pouring tea in the afternoon were
Mrs. W. Baker, Grand Bend,

and in the evening Mrs. Law-
rence Schwartz, London, and
Mrs. Harry Hoffman, Dashwood.

VACATION SCHOOL IS SUCCESS
Students of Vacation Bible
School presented a program in
Zion United Church Thursday
evening, July 25. The kinder-
garten class sang and recited
Bible verses. The Primary, recit.
ed the ten commandments and
the books of the Old Testament,
and presented a skit illustrated
by paper bag puppets.
The Juniors repeated in chorus
the Scripture verses which tell
the Christmas story and answer-
ed catechism questions. The In-
termediates portrayed the life
of Joseph.
Certificates were distributed
and Dixie Amerongen and Danny
Haugh received awards for
achievement in "Sword Drill".
Following the program the guests
viewed the work of the students
in the Sunday School rooms,
During the two weeks of class-
es there was an enrolment of
over 100, with an average daily
attendance of 93. A totalof $52.81
was collected for the mission
project, the purchase of Bibles
for the children of Japan.
PAYS TRIBUTE TO ORGANIST
Union church services during
the month of August and on La-
bour Day Sunday will be held in
Zion United Church at 10 am
each Sunday. At the last of the
union services in Crediton Unit-
ed on July 28 Rev. Douglas War-
ren paid tribute to the organist
and choir leader, Miss Elaine
Powe, and presented her with the
gift of a chrome tray with relish
centre from the congregation.
Miss Powe assumes teaching
duties in St. Catharines in Sep-
tember.
