conducted anniversary services,
morning and evening at Crom-
arty Presbyterian church on Sun-
day. Special music was provided
by the choir under the leadership
of Miss Brenda Kerslake. Misses
Beth Christie, Verna Christie and
Jeanne Dow of Roys, accompanied
by Mrs, Elmer Dow assisted with
trio numbers at the morning ser-
vice. E. Graham of Avonton was

A Zurich youth, Gary Flax-
bard, topped this year's grade
la graduating class at SHDHS
and was one of five students
named as Ontario scholars.
Winning honors is nothing new
for the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Flaxbard.
In grade nine and 10 he finished
second in his class and then took
over top position in grade 11 and
never relinquished it, despite the
fact he spent a considerable
amount of his time in other school
activities.
He served as president of the
student council this year and still
came up with a 90 percent average
in every subject he took.
Bill Jeffrey, Exeter, was sec-
ond in the class and two girls,
Joan Pepper and Janet Miller
finished in third and fourth spot
respectively.
Along with Jim Knox, the four
top students were named Ontario
scholars for having an average of
over 80 percent in their subjects.
Flaxbard was top student in
five subjects, English, history,
Latin, French and Spanish, while
Knox topped the graduates in
math, chemistry and physics.
Janet Miller, another mem-
ber of the student douncil, was
tops in one math course; Louise
McBride led in biology; while
George Lee and Fred Simmons
shared honors in geography.
Other students attaining first
class honors in grade 13 were
Gordon Greenwood, June King,
Lorraine Hall and Dorothy Wag-
ner.
Bill Jeffrey is the son of Mr.
and Mrs.,Victor Jeffrey, Exeter,
while Joan Pepper and Janet mil-
ler both reside in Dashwood. Joan
is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Cliff pepper and Janet is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Miller.
James Knox is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Knox, Exeter.
YOUTH REPEATS
The race for the honor of being
top student in the other grades
was also keen, with a few students
changing position f r o m a year
ago.
John Goddard repeated as the
top student in grade 12. This is
the third year he has topped the
class. He is the son of Dr. and
Mrs. John Goddard Hensall.
Gwen Finkbeiner, RR 2 Credi-
ton moved from third to second in
the class. Gordon Jones, RR 1
Centralia., finished third and
Carol Lynn Shapton, RR 1 Exeter,
was fourth.
Each was in the top four last
year as well, and joining them as
first class honor students were
Don Luther and Naomi Bocock.
Marilyn Gascho and Joyce Ben-
son topped the grade 12 four-
year courses,
Attaining first class honors in
addition to Miss Gascho and Miss
Benson were Sheila Hern and
Linda Rader.
In grade 11, Joanne Lans-
bergen, RR 2 Zurich, and Beth
Cook, Hensall, tied for top
honors. Mary Wilson, Exeter,
was second while Ken Jones and
Joanne Miller placed third and
fourth respectively.
Douglas Munn and Christine
Lansbergen topped the four-year
program students.

grade 11 were:

Zurich and Hensall area stu-
dents continued their winning
ways in grade 10 when Donna Lynn
Forrest, RR 2 IIensall, repeated
as top student in grade 10.
However, she had to share
the honor this year with 'Anne
Herdman, RR 1 Centralia, who
was second in grade nine last
year.
Joanne Hodgert, was second
in the grade 10 class, while Mary
,Ellen Gingerich, RR 3 Zurich, and
Julia Burgess, RR 2 Zurich, were
third and fourth respectively.
Yvonne Jacques, Ronald Wal-
per and Wendy Wallace topped
the three grade 10 four-year
program courses.
First class honors in grade 10

fourth spot was Roberta Neil,

Barbara Grenier, RR 1 Dash-
wood, was tops in the four-year
business and commerce pro-
gram; Donald Jones, RR 1 Cen-
tralia, topped the science, tech-
nology and trades course and Ben
Gamble was the leader In the
boys' occupations course.

Prior to her marriage on Sat-
urday Miss Kathy Buxton was
honoured by several showers.
In London she attended a cup
and saucer shower at the home
of the groom's aunt, Mrs. Robert
McFalls of Iroquois Avenue, a
linen shower at the home of an-
other aunt of the groom, Mrs.
Don Cromarty of Sherwood For-
est, a grocery shower given by
the staff of St. Patrick's School
and a miscellaneous shower dur-
ing a family get-together at the
home of Mrs. McLaughlin on
Grosvener St.
In Crediton Miss Elyse Lam-
port arranged a miscellaneous
shower to which Kathy's school
chums were invited and the wo-
men of Crediton United Church

Anglican Women met in the
Parish Hall on Wednesday after-
noon to finish the last quilt for
this season. A short meetingfol-
lowed when plans were made for
the annual outing to be held on
July 10. Refreshments wer e
