wood, was married recently to William Robert liolrries, son of Mrs,
Alexia Holmes and the late Carl Holmes, Seaforth. The marriage
was performed by Rev. Earl Steinman at Zion Lutheran Church,
Dashwood.

Hospital auxiliary
off for summer
At the final meeting of the
Women's Auxiliary to South
Huron Hospital Tuesday after-
noon prior to the summer re-
cess, several items of business
were discussed with President
Mrs. Glenn Mickle in the chair.
The ways and means corn-
mittee reported the Tag Day is
to be held September 28 and the
fall rummage sale October 18
and 19.
Mrs. J. G. Dunlop, public re-
lations officer, noted that plans
were progressing for the pro-
gram on a nursing career and the
opportunities it offers to be pre-
sented for interested SHDHS stu-
dents. This is to be held on the
regular Auxiliary meeting day,
Tuesday, October 8. The RNA
students at the Hospital will be
entertained at a picnic at the
cottage of Mrs. R. C. Dinney
this month.
It was voted to give the trees
and shrubs planted at the hos-
pital last year by the Auxiliary
as a centennial project spec-
ial attention with the approval
of the Hospital Board.
Miss A. Claypole, hospital ad-
ministrator, reported that new
fire regulations require con-
siderable change in all hospit-
als. In South Huron new fire
proof tile has been placed on
corridor ceilings and patients'
rooms are to be painted with
fireproof paint as soon as it
can be done.

Rebekahs award
20 year pins
A birthday party featured the
Rebekah Lodge meeting on Wed-
nesday evening with guests pres-
ent from Stratford and Paris
Lodges. Noble Grand Audrey
MacGregor presided.
Plans were made for a picnic
on June 24 at the home of Past
Noble Grand. Lila Smith at 6;30
pm.
Twenty year pins were pres-
ented to Sisters Isabel. Cann by
her daughter Jean Hodgert;
Gladys Skinner by her mother
Vera Johns; Eunice Stone by her
daughter Gladys Chambers; and
Laura Lindenfield by her grand-
daughter Nancy Rooth. Pins were
also presented to sisters Anne
Coates, Verna Coates, Emma
Campbell, Caroline Russell, Vir-
gie Williams, Dorothy Hughson,
Dorothy Jones, Ruth Skinner, Ella
Willard and Winnifred Field.
Prizes were presented for the
marathon bridge held during the
winter months to Mr. and Mrs.
Les Gibson, Mr. and Mrs. Doug
Wedlake, Irene Pepper, Ruth
Skinner, Betty Coates and Verna
Coates.
A social time was conducted
by Mildred Thomson and a sing-
song by Marian Skinner. Twenty-
one candles were lit on the birth-
day cake by Past Noble Grande.
Lunch followed.
Caven Circle
hears speakers
The June meeting of the Caven
Congregational Circle was held
last Tuesday in the Presbyterian
Church parlors.
Mrs. Norman Stanlake opened
the meeting following which a
devotional period was conducted
by Mrs. 3. W. Corbett, with
springtime and the healingpower
of nature for a theme.
Entertainment following a
business meeting, consisted of a
vocal solo by Mrs. Beatrice Hess
of Zurich and an audio-visual
program presented by Mrs. Bob
Pooley and Mrs. Bill Batten. The
script, on the subject of “Hap-
piness" was made up by the
Rev. John Boyne, Dr. Charles
Wallace, Mrs. Bob Dinney and
F. H. Wilkinson.
Refreshments in theJtine-time
theme were served at the close
of the meeting by Mrs. Eldred
Simmons, Mrs. Helen Holland,
Mrs. Jerry Campbell and Mrs.
Harold Gunn.

on boat cruise
About 31 members of Ladies
Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian
Legion in Exeter and their friends
enjoyed a bus trip last Wednesday
to the Midland -CollingWood re-
gions of Ontario.

family arrived home at different
times last week to help them
celebrate their 45th wedding an-
niversary. Previous to their big
day they dined with Mr. & Mrs.
Jack Pearson and family of

More than 130 relatives and
friends called to "congratulate"
the bride and groom of 50 years,
Mr. & Mrs. Erwin Thompson, (the
former Mary Steeper) last Sun-
day. Open House was held at Mr.
& Mrs. Roy Thompson's where
the guests registered and en-
joyed a visit and refreshments.
Many lovely gifts were opened
and shown on tables with wedding
cake, One other son, Arthur lives
with his wife and family in Wood-
stock.

Centre last Saturday.
Many friends attended the wake
and funeral of the late Charlie
McKeever, who died suddenly in
London, last Saturday in his 21st
year. He was the son of Gordon
McKeever and the former Sadonia
Dietrich now residing in Parkhill,
Mass was celebrated Tuesday at
10 A.M. T. H. Hoffman Funeral
home was in charge and burial
took place in Mt. Carmel Ceme-
tery. •
Mrs. Joseph Glavin has been a
patient in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, for the past two weeks.
Mrs. Kathleen Houlahan visited
last week with her son Edward and
family of Sarnia.
Mr. & Mrs. Austin McKeever,
Toronto visited relatives and at-
tended the funeral of the former's
nephew last Tuesday.

Montreal, Quebec, are visiting
for a few days with Mrs. Sam

and friends. They leave Thursday
for Michigan where Erie will be
taking a post graduate course

CHARLES MCKEEVER
Charles Leo McKeever, 20,
106 Bridle Path, London, died
suddenly of monoxide poisoning
on Saturday, June 8.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon McKeever of Parkhill.
He is"survived by three sisters,
Mrs. Lionel (Maureen) Sterling,
Dover Centre; Mrs. Gordon
(Ruth) O'Rourke, London; Mrs.
Raymond (Nancy) Cote, London;
and four brothers, William and
James, both of London and Donald
and Joseph, both of Parkhill.
Funeral was held Tuesday with
Rev, A. P. Jansen in charge at
the Church ef Our Lady of Mount
Carmel. Interment was made in
Mount Carmel. Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Pat and
Michael McKeever, Louis Black-
more, Barry and Michael O'Con-
nor and Jim Houlahan.
Hoffman Funeral Home, Dash-
wood, was in charge of arrange-
ments.
JERRY CAMPBELL
Funeral service was held for
Jerry Campbell, 90, at Our Lady
of Mount Carmel Church on Sat-
urday, June 8 with Rev. A. P.
Jansen officiating. A resident of
Stephen Township, his wife pre-
deceased him 17 years ago.
He is survived by three daugh-
ters, Mrs. Urban (Mary) Ayotte,
Farmington, Michigan; Mrs.
Richard (Frances) Ayotte, Hay
PO; and Mrs, Gerald (Ursla)
Regier, RR 3 Zurich; one son,
John at home; a sister Miss
Florence Campbell, Detroit; two
brothers, Joseph, Detroit and
Brother Ronald, Ignatus College,
Guelph.
Pallbearers were Cecil Wood,
Richard and Michael Ayotte, Phil
Gene and Cecil Regier.
Hoffman Funeral Horne, Dash-
wood, was in charge of arrange-
ments.
