Decided to take steps to curb
the unnecessary trespassing on
parks property by automobiles
and horses. An ad is being plac-
ed in the T-A notifying citizens
that anyone caught in unauthor-
ized areas will be prosecuted.
Several members of the com-
mittee said they had seen cars,
bikes and horses on several of
the freshly seeded areas in the
last couple of days.
Authorized the purchase of two
umbrellas for the lifeguard
stands at the swimming pool.
Learned that the swimming
pool will open this weekend with
public swimming from 2-4 and
7-9 on both Saturday and Sunday
and from 3:30-5:30 and 7-9 on
weekdays until public school holi-
days begin.
Rejected a motion from mem-
ber Mrs. Lee Dobbs that a 5 year
tree planting program be started
in the river,flats at Riverview
park.

Decided to call tenders for
approximately 20,000 cubic yards
of crushed gravel to be spread
on township roads. Tenders are
to be in the hands of clerk Wil-
mer D. Wein by July 2.
Received and accepted a drain
petition from Newton Hayter and
others in the area of Lots 8 and
9 on Concessions 20 and 21.
Approved a grant of $30 to
the Hensall. Spring Fair and also
agreed to pay $4 to each of 12
Hensall Calf Club members from
the township of Stephen.
Received a request for repair
of the Fletcher Drain from Willy
Coolman and from Mrs. Helen
Klemke for repair of the Cen-
tralia Extension Drain.
Approved a loan of $1,500 to
the Stephen Township Commun-
ity Centre Board for washroom
renovations at the township hall.

Area residents will be in-
vited to bring their picnic sup-
per to the park and make it a
complete day.
The group plans to meet again
next week to finalize plans for
the program and they will be
listed in this newspaper prior
to July 1,
Organizations assisting with
the program will be the Board of
Trade, Lions, Legion, Kinsmen,
Kinettes, Legion Auxiliary, Teen
Town, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority,
Saddle Club and Rodeo Committee
and council.

partment of energy and resources

award.
The awards, designed to stim-
ulate interest in conservation,
will give the 20 Ontario winners
a week's orientation course in

Won '# okay loans
after work started
Sixty-eight numbers were pre-
sented by public school children
from a wide area on Fridaynight
in the South Perth Centennial
School auditorium. These chil-
dren displayed their various tal-
ents before the ajudicator, Lorne
Dotterer, of Goderich, and a
capacity audience.
It was Mr. Dotterer's diffi-
cult task to select the numbers
to appear on the Juvenile Pro-
gram at the annual Kirkton Gar-
den Party in July where cash
prizes are awarded to the final
winners of the three classes --
von al , instrumental and spec-
ialty.
Gerald Paul was the capable
master of ceremonies for the
evening.
The children chosen to appear
at the Garden Party were Cathy
Lou Muir, St. Marys; Janet Park-
inson, Woodham; Barbara Mull-
wyk, Brussels; LoriMcCutcheon,
Paul Mutter, Blaine McCutcheon
and Kim Sullivan, Brussels; Joan
Elliott and Julie Valance, Brus-
