Large ;crowd entries for horse show
Dr. J. Fisher, London, pre-
sided over a coroner's inquest
celled into the death of William
Hardy, RR 1 Lucan on April 19.
The inquest was held Wednesday.
The youngster was killed when
the bicycle he was riding was in-
volved in an accident with a
tractor trailer while the lad was
on the way to a friend's home.
Airy members were Alan
Scott, RR 1 Lucan; Gordon
Brooks, RR 1 Lucan; Bernard
Benn, RR 3 Lucan; Gerald Ham-
ilton, RR 3 Lucan and Clarence
Carter, Clandeboye.
The jury returned an open
verdict and made the following
recommendation: that an access
road be constructed on the west
side of Highway 4 to the second
concession of Biddulph at the
crest of the hill such as now ex-
ists on the east side.
District women
attend W1 rally
The Lucan WI was well rep-
resented last Tuesday at the
North Middlesex District WI 65th
annual meeting, held at the United
Church in Ailsa Craig. The fol-
lowing delegates and officers
were present: Mrs. Frank Hardy,
Mrs. Sheridan Revington, Mrs.
Owen Seward, Mrs. RonC rosier,
Mrs. John Park and Mrs. Alex
Young.
Mrs. Milton pardy of Toronto
editor of "Home and Country",
was the guest speaker. Follow-
ing reports from the branches an
election of officers for 1968, was
held.
Dinner was provided by the
members of the Riverview WI
who were this year's hostesses.
The Lucan WI members will be
hostesses for next year's meet-
ing.
WEIGHT WATCHERS
Last Wednesday afternoon, five
members of the Lucan weight
watchers, met at the home of the
president, Mrs. Wayne Hockey.
The weigh-in showed a loss of six
pounds.
The afternoon was spent in
a good game of euchre, after
which the hostess served diet
orangeade and tea.

Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Hodgins,
Lucan graduated from Ontario
Agricultural College, University
of Guelph, Friday, May 24, He
plans a teaching career and will
attend Althouse College of Edu-
cation in September.
ANGLICAN CHURCH
The Spring Deanery was held
in. St. Anne's Church, Byron, last
Tuesday. Rev. E. 0. Lancaster,
Mrs. Harold Hodgins and mrs.
Gordon Atkinson represented
Holy Trinity Church.
LEAGUE OF LOYALTY
Over 50 League of Loyalty
members and parents attended
CFPL-TV Saturday evening to be
taped on "Take Your Choice".
Maureeen Smith, Mike Culbert,
Helen Shipway, Nancy Hardy and
Julie Henderson were to act as
contestants. However only the
first three were called. The
children won $101.
A draw was made for a beauti-
ful spray, steam, dry iron. Much
to her embarrassment the lead-
er, Miss Abbott, was the name
drawn and she has decided to
try and augment the $101 gift to
the church, by having a draw on
the iron,
The program will appear on the
air Saturday, June 1 at '7:30 pm.

in Bruce County.
MrS. Sach Is a deaconess and
trained nurse and helped train
the natives while living In Lab,
tador. She IS also A gifted pianist
and 'organist and has been Of
great assistande to Mr. Sash and
his large junior'choir.

Haskett and Son Funeral Home,
Lucan, until 2 pm. Thursday,
May 23 when the Rev. J, P.
Cook of Bryanston United Church
conducted funeral services. In-
terment was in Medway Cemet-
ery. pallbearers were Messrs
Gilbert Sleight, Ben Wood, Leo
Ironside, Milton Hudson, Fred
Hudson and Homer Hardie.
He is survived by his wife,
the former Irene Foster, two
sisters 'de (Mrs. Almer Eedy)
and Nellie (Mrs. Gordon Wilson)
both of London, and one brother
Carmen Dann of London.
Sop of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Dann he was born, rais-
ed and died on the same farm.
He was a member of the Middle-
sex Masonic Lodge, Bryanston
AF & AM and a member of the
Bryanston United Church.

Ashworth presented by her fam-
ily and flowers in the chancel
were in memory of Mrs. Haysel
Perrin, Mr. Herbert Dann and
Mr. Eugene Bice.

UNITED CHURCH
Rev. G. W. Sach conducted an
11 o'clock service at Central
United Church, Sarnia for the
Bible Society, but returned in
time to conduct the 103rd an-
niversary at his own church in
Clandeboye where the gu e st
speaker was the Rev. C. E.
Beacom of Arva.
Mr. Kenneth Toten of London,
speaking for the Bible Society
was the guest speaker in the Lu-
can Church, using as his text,
"Good News for Modern Man".

Mrs. E. E. Summers was in-
stalled president of the Granton
WI at a meeting held at the home
of the president, Mrs. Clarence
Lewis.

Mrs. H. Perrin
dies in hospital
Mrs. liaysel Perrin 69, of Bid-
dulph Township passed away in
Victoria Hospital, Mobday, May
20.
The body rested in the Murdy
Funeral Home, Lunn, until 2pm

on United Church conducted fu-
neral services. Interment was
in St. Janies Cemetery, Clande-

Following the pArade Saturday,
Jacqueline Hodgins, 14-year-Olti
daughter of Mr. and. Mrs. Austin
Hodgins, was sitting on her horse
when another horse reared and
accidently kicked Jacqueline on
the foot.
Jacqueline was taken to St.,10-
seph's Hospital for ,-rays, but
x-rays revealed no broken bones.
She was unable to go to Medway
School, monday, but is spending
the time preparing for exams.
