Students plan.
charity walk
• 'Thirty pupils from grades 7
and 8 of Hensel' Public School
will march from St. Joseph to
Hensall a distance of eleven miles
one way. They will leave St.
Joseph Saturday June 1 at 10
am. The march is sponsored by
Hensall businessmen, relatives
and friends who will pay 100
to a dollar or more a mile.
Proceeds are for Oxfam.
OXFAM--the Oxford Com-
mittee for Famine Relief—be-
gan in 1942 as a small committee
in Oxford, England, pledged to
raise funds for starving children ▪ in Nazi occupied Greece.
Since then, it has increased
in size and scope and now co-
operates with the United Nations
Food and Agriculture Organiz-
ation, in Rome. Theme of its
annual conference is Freedom
from Hunger.

Mr. Wes Richardson is a pat-
ient in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, where he underwent sur-
gery for an emergency appendec-
tomy last Wednesday night.

Keith Hay, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Lorne Hay, Hensall, receives
his degree of Bachelor of Arts
in chemistry at the UWO con-
vocation, today. The SHDHS grad-
uate has accepted a position with
Shell Canada Limited in Sarnia.

service, assisted by Mrs. Earl
Kinsman. A quartette composed
of Mrs. R. Taylor, Mrs. A. Cole,
Mrs. J. Brintnell and Mrs. A.
Ross Sr. sang.
A lively time was held at the
slip and bloomer auction which
was held after the meeting. Mrs.
R. Brock was auctioneer.The sale
realized $16.00 for the group.

I close my doors this Saturday evening, June 1.

held their Spring Fly-Up Cere-
mony last Tuesday evening.
The hall was decorated by the
Hensall Guides, and Guide Patty
Van Wieren extended a welcome
,to all the guests present.
BroWn Owl, Mrs. Robert Cook,
presented Wendy Dixon and Dan-
een Ward with their wings and
both girls "flew up" to the
Guide Company.
Several proficiency badges
were presented to the following
Brownies by Snowy Owl Mrs.
Barrie Jackson; Barbara cooper
and Betty Beer received their
Collectors Badge, Brenda
Clement, Toymakers badge; Lin-
da Elder, Book Lovers badge;
D 6.n e e n Ward, House Orderly
Badge, and Christine McGregor,
Athletes Badge. Golden Hand
badges were also presented to
Wendy Dixon and Da.neen Ward.
Following the Fly-Up Cere-
mony, a play was put on by sev-
eral of the Brownies and games
were conducted too. A Camp
Fire was enjoyed by both Brown-
ies and Guides. A skit was put
on by several of the Guides.
Lunch was served by Guides
who• were acting, as hostesses for
the evening in order to pass
their Hostess Badge.

Institute at Grand Bend Thurs-
Following a family tradition, 11-year-old Danny Turvey, Hensall,
is proving he knows how to handle horses. The youngster won the
cloyerleaf barrel race at the Lucan horse show, Saturday and placed
well in two other events. He's won competition at other horse shows
this year also. The horse he rides, Little Champ, is owned by George
