James Street United Church is
bustling with activity every other
Wednesday morning. The conven-
tional ladies' meeting in the
church parlor has given way to
something new and exciting-The
Coffee flour.
Concern over the fact that
they felt young people were not
a part of the church's activities,
resulted in a new form of fellow-
ship for young women and moth-
ers.
With tea pr coffee, these wom-
en gather around the big table
in the kitchen. The atmosphere is
comfortable and friendly. This
is a rather unique group as there
is no executive. Most meetings
take the form of a discussion
group, with each girl taking her
turn to prepare a meeting.

ditions on both sides of the wall.
Mrs. Floyd Stewart entertained
with two readings. Usborne Cen-
tral Public School was res-
ponsible for the program with
Mrs. Beth Batten as convener.

charge of the next meeting to be
held in Biddulph Central School

may 15 the CGIT will visit
the Crippled Children's Hos-
pital in Victoria, Lor;don.
The past year their program
has beep a series on ,,Family
Living and Development". The
family, from its beginning with
the young couple, through child-
rearing, the empty nest, middle
age, and old age, has been studied.
These discussions encour a g e
everyone in the group to par-
ticipate.
Film strips, tape recordings,
books and speakers have added
variety. The sessions are lively,
frank and friendly.
At one meeting, love in its
many forms was studied. They
discussed the various form love
takes through a lifetime. The
"loved" and "unloved" were
compared. As a result of this
meeting the women decided to
adopt an orphan child from over-
seas.
Another project began as a re-
sult of a discussion on "old age',
and its problems. This group now
visits some of the elderly people
in the community. Two or three
girls go visiting while a third
babysits the children.
While all this is happening
the church parlour has become
a nursery. Kind volunteers from
the UCW units babysit the child-
ren. Children range from infants
to kindergarteners. Sometimes
as many as 28 children are run-
ning, jumping, creeping, crying
and laughing all at one time.
Both children and mothers are
enthusiastic.

Spoon about half of the clear
gelatin into about 8 tall, slender
glasses. Top with marshmallows,
whipped gelatin and remaining
clear gelatin-4n that order. Chill
until firm.
Maybe you prefer to make a
frozen dessert ahead of time.
Try this simple one which is
quite popular.
Crush 12 to 16 crisp chocolate
wafers with rolling pin to make
1 1/4 cups.
Cream 3 tbl butter and add
some crumbs and 2 tbl confec-
tioner's sugar. Cream well. Work
in the rest of the crumbs. It
will still be crumbly.
Spread half of the crumb mix-
ture on the bottom of a refrig-
erator tray. Spread 1 pint of
ice cream (any flavor you like)
over the crumbs. (I find the brick
of ice cream halved is fine to
put over the crumbs.) Then
sprinkle the rest of the crumbs
on top. Freeze till firm, about
30 minutes or longer, even over-
night.
Cut in squares and lift out with
spatula end serve.
