Friday night was the Lucan
Lions Club Ladies' Night, begin-
ning With turkey dinner at the
Community C entre, with the
Saintsbury ladies doing the cater-
ing, Some 150 Lions, wives And
friends were present.
Three lawn chairs, two floral
arrangements and six w at e r
glasses were donated as door
prizes.
411 the ladies received a cor-
sage from the Lions Club, and
a gift from the Ontario Hydro,
Avon Co., and the Fuller Brush
Co.
The Paul Brothers and Shirley
were to have provided the enter-
tainment but the Lions Club made
a mistake in the date. By the
time the error was discovered,
the Paul Bros. and Shirley were
booked to entertain in Niagara
Falls.
Following a srogram of mu-
sic, provided by Mr. Mike Hasch
of the University of Western On-
tario, the evening was spent in
dancing to Lion Clare Stanley's
records.
Mrs. G. Bice
dies in London
Mrs. Grace M. Bice passed
away suddenly at her late resid-
ence, 22 Renwick Ave., London,
Thursday, April 25. She was the
former Grace M. Carpenter.
She is survived by one daugh-
ter, Mrs. Marjorie Elaine Pat-
terson of Little Current, Mani-
toulin Island.
The coffin remained closed,
prior to cremation. C. Haskett
and Son Funeral Home, Lucan,
was in charge of funeral ar-
rangements.
District woman
dies at age 50
Mrs. oeraid Hollings, 5Q,
passed away suddenly at her
home, Lot 18 Concession 12, Lon,
den Township, Saturday, April
27.
The body rested in thp C. Has-
kett & Son Funeral Home, Lu-
can, until 2 pm Monday, April
29, when the Rev. Bruce Guy,
conducted funeral services. In-
terment was in Bill' United Cem-
etery.
Pallbearers included Messrs
Don, Jim and Bob Simpson, Gord-
on Wright, Cliff McLean and
Henry Bieber. Flower bearers
were Bill Bieber, john Finch,
George Adams, Bob Dune an,
Clarke Railings and Joe Duncan.
Besides her husband, Mrs.
Railings is survived by two sons,
Reg of Lucan, Jim at home, one
daughter, Margaret (Mrs. Lorne
Brodhagen) of Stratford and four
grandchildren.
Mrs. Railings was the former
Dorothy May Cohoon, of London
Township. She was a member of
the Birr United Church, and the
Birr WI.
The Lucan Public School don-
ated $85.84 to the 1968 Bunny
Bundle.
The following is the teachers'
report; Mrs. Elizabeth Garretts'
and Mrs. Shirley Berdan's kind-
ergarten brought in $7.75. Mrs.
Mary Bowman's Grade 1 (Room
2) also had a collection of $5.p0.
Mrs. Muriel Cobleigh Grade 1
(Room 3) had the novel idea of
bringing in according to age and
netted $4.00. Miss April Whit-
ing's Grade g (Room 4) sold
freshie and had a bake sale and
made $17.32.
Mrs. Allison had the idea for
her Grade 2 (Room 7) of trying
to cover the border around her
room with pennies. The children
nearly made it with 1,130 pen-
nies.
Miss Donna Ullyot's Grade 3
(Room 6) had a white elephant
sale and realized $6.00. Mrs.
Joyce Halliday's Grade 3 (Room
5) hot dog sale really went over
well, for she realized $34.47.
The Biddulph Central contrib-
uted a total of $50.00
Flowers in the churches were
in memory of Billy Hardy, killed

Mrs. T. A. (Fred) Clatt,vorthy
passed away suddenly at her late
residence 181 Hidout St. 5, Lon-
don on Thursday, April 25.
The body rested at the James
A. Harris Funeral Home, London
until 10 am Saturday, then to
Bishop Cronyn Memorial Church,
where funeral services were con-
ducted by Rev. A, Gordon Baker
IDD and Rev, E. J. Humphrey.
Interment was in Mount Pleasant
Cemtery, Landon.
Mrs. Clatworthy is survived by
one son Clendon of London and
one grandson Paul, also o ne
brother George A. Hodgins, of
London; three sisters, Mrs. E. F.
Housen (Stella), Mrs. Wilbert
Luker (Gladys) both of London
and Mrs. R. F. Crosby (Elaine)
of Port. Stanley.
Mrs. Clatworthy, daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hod-
gins, was the former Florence
(Flossie) Susan Hodgins. She was
raised on Concession 2 Biddulph
north 'of Lucan. She attended

Afflick, have moved in and have
Mrs. Foley's parents, Mr. &
Mrs. WilliaM Witmer o Zurich,
with them at present, helping
them to get settled.
PERFORM IN FESTIVAL
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Schell
of Shakespeare (formerly of
Langford Drive, Lucan) were two
of the 89-voice choir which pre-
sented its first 1968 concert in
the Shakespearean Th eatre,
Stratford, last Sunday.
Monday their small six-year-
old son Keith sang his first solo
at the annual Music Festival held
in St. John's Church, Stratford
and out of a class of 13 came
4th receiving a mark of 78.,
