tops card play
Last Tuesday evening Mrs.
Gordon Atkinson's group of the
Ladies Guild, for the second
time around, sponsored the soc-
ial evening in the church base-
ment, The members of the group
had worked extra hard and had
high hopes of exceeding the all-
high attendance of 52—but the
weatherman decided otherwise.
All day long it blustered and
stormed and drifted, m ak i n g
streets and highways dangerous
for car and pedestrian. However
with tables set up, and refresh-
ments arranged, the members
of the group decided to carry on,
even if there were only two or
three tables, so what was there
great surprise to find 42 turned
out. These 42 enjoyed a good
evening of cards and were ob-
livious of the storm outdoors—
until it was time to go home.
The most lucky person of the
evening was "Lucan's Corres-
pondent", who not only won the
high score prize but tied with
Mrs. Joe Carter for the Ione
hand prize. However as no play-
er is permitted to accept two
prizes, the prize automatically
went to Mrs. Carter.
Mr. Tommy Ryan won the
men's high score prize. Three
men tied for the lone hand prize.
Mr, Lawrence Hodgins, (a winner
of the last euchre) won in the
draw.
Lo W score prizes went to Mrs.
P. 0. King and Mr. Bev Hod-
gins. Mrs. Jim Davis assisted
