LADIES AID Cromarty Ladies Aid Society met at the home of Mrs. Thos, Scott Sr. for the March meeting. Mrs. Gerald Carey presided and opened the meeting with a poem. Mrs. James Miller led in de- votions. A reading was given by Mrs. Charles Douglas. Routine reports were given by the sec- retary Mrs. Robert Laing and the treasurer Mrs. Mervin Dow. The roll call was answered with the presentation of articles for a layette to be sent to Unitarian Service. During the business period plans were made for the Straw- berry Supper to be held in June. A bale of used clothing will be sent, with articles to be left in the Sunday school room of the church during the last week in April. The ladies spent the remainder of the afternoon quilt- ing. PERSONALS Mr. Robert Gardiner, Ronnie, Brenda and Robbie, Mr. & Mrs. Larry Gardiner were guests at the fortieth wedding anniversary celebration of Mr. & Mrs. Heber Shute at Russeldale Hall on Sat- urday. Mr. & Mrs. Robert Hulley and family Winthrop, Linda and Jo- Anne Currie Dorchester and Mr. & Mrs. Otto Walker 'were Sun- day guests of Mr. & Mrs. Larry Gardiner. Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Alex Gardiner were Mr. ,& Mrs. Gordon Marquardt Janet and David of Exeter. Miss Colleen Moorehead is holidaying with Mr. & Mrs. Alex Gardiner. IRVIN RADER DASHWOOD The United Church Women of Calvary United Church held their meeting Tuesday, March 12 with the theme "Home Missions in Northern Canada". Mrs. Carl Oestreicher was convener of the group in charge and Mrs. Lloyd Guenther, chairlady. Mrs. Art Haugh read the scripture. Mrs. Carl Oestreicher led in prayer. Mrs. Merrill James and Mrs. Mervyn Tieman sang a duet. Mrs., Lloyd Beaver read Pauline Johnson's poem "Golden of the Selkirks". A panel discussion "The Way of Life of the Canadian Indian" was held with Mrs. Hugh Boyle chairman and panelists, Mrs. J. M. Tieman, Mrs. Art Haugh, Mrs. Carl Oestreicher, and Mrs. Lloyd Beaver. Mrs. Eben Weigand, president, dealt with the business. A don- ation was made to the unified budget. A work day will be held March 26. Bandages will be made, quilting will be held, and a lay- ette packed. It was decided to send quilts to the Rescue Mission in London. LADIES AID The March meeting of Zion Lutheran Church Ladies Aid was held Wednesday, March 13 with the Lenten Service sermon a series on "The Way of the Cross" served as the topic. Group 2 with Mrs. Milford Merner con- vener was in charge of devotions. The president, Mrs. Lorne Misses Linda and Jo Anne Currie, Dorchester, and Sandra Hulley, Winthrop, are holidaying with their grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Otto Walker. Genttner- dealt with the business. Plans were completed for the visit to the Bluewater Rest Home. The Aid will cater to two wed- dings. Reports were heard from secretaries. DASHWOOD'S OLDEST CITIZEN HAS BIRTHDAY Mrs. Idella (Bammie) Fischer celebrated her 95th birthday, Sunday, March 1'7. Coming from Germany when she was 16 she enjoys excellent health and a keen mind. She has eight living child- ren and makes her home with a daughter, Mrs. Edna Weber. She enjoyed callers and cards, espec- ially one coming from Ottawa from Robert McKinley MP. FINISH PROJECT The Bible course sponsored by the LWML of Zion Lutheran Church was completed Monday evening, March 18. This was a thirteen lesson course on mar- riage with an average attendance of 12. Another similar course will be attempted next year. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Syd Baker have taken up residence in Dashwood in their home purchased from Mrs. Susan Snider. Ernest Miller, Eugene Guen- ther and David Rader returned from a holiday in Florida. Mr. Seigfried Miller and friend Wes of Port Dover were Sunday visitors with Mrs. Martha Miller. Saturday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Love were Mr. and Mrs. Don Love, Danny and David of Sudbury, Mr. and Mrs. Clare Love, and Leanne of Sarnia, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Datars, June, Janet, Kevin and Krisan of Grand Bend, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lobb, Randy and Rhonda of Clinton. Mr. Don Love left Toronto Airport Sunday for a two-week course in IBM at Dallas, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Becker and family spent Sunday at Galt with friends. Miss Diane is spending the week there. Mrs. Sharon Bullock, Mrs. Vesta Miller and Mrs. Myrtle Gusso attended the Hairdressing Convention at the Royal York Hotel, Toronto, Sunday. Mrs. Nellie Hughes is spend- ing some time with her sister, Mrs. Hilton Ford. Mr. and Mrs. John Brintnell and family of Jarvis spent the weekend with Mrs. A.
