Walkers help retarded
A brisk five mile walk in, late November by a group of Exeter ladies proved very beneficial to the newly
formed local Association for the Mentally Retarded. The energetic girls walked to the home of Mrs.
Clarence McDowell in Centralia and received a total of $114.05 frbm sponsors. Above, Mrs. Ray Murley

The women of Staffa United
Church joined with those of
Cromarty Presbyterian Church
for the World Day of prayer
service on Friday with an attend-
ance of 40 ladies and girls. The
leaders of the service were Miss
Vera Hambly and Mrs. M. La-
mond,
A short address on the theme
"Bear one another's burdens"
was given by Mrs. Leslie Miller
of Staffa.
Misses Joan and Faye Temple-
man sang a duet "The Beautiful
Garden of Prayer" and were ac-
companied by Miss Brenda Kers-
lake at the piano. A film strip
"Household of Faith" was shown
with Mrs. R. Laing in charge.
Many of the ladies assisted with
scripture reading and prayers.
Light refreshments were served
at the close of the service.

The 4-H Club of the Clandeboye
WI had their first meeting Sat-
urday on the course "Dressing
Up Vegetables". It was held at
the home of their leader, Mrs.
Richard Worthington. Mrs. Jam-
es Donaldson is the assistant
leader.
The following officers were
elected: Betty Scott, president;
Joan Lewis, vice-president;
Kathryn Worthington, treasurer;
Mary Mohr, secretary; Denna
Snelgrove, ass't. sec.; Susan Hill,
press reporter.
Mrs. J. Donaldson gave a dem-
onstration on measuring. There
are 18 Club members.

dies at 94
The death of Adelbert Mollard,
94, occurred at Watrous Union
Hospital on Wednesday, Feb. 14,
following an !line s s of three
months. Deceased has been a
resident of Watrous for 60 years.
He was predeceased by his wife
in October 1963.
It is of general interest to note
that the Methodist Church in Wat-
rous was established in 1909 and
the first name on the original
membership roll were Mr. and
Mrs. Adelbert Mollard.
Mr. Mollard was secretary of
the Board of Stewards for many
Years and for a quarter century
was an elder and trustee of the
United Church. No other member
in the congregation was a more
regular attendant at church ser-
vices, Neither icy streets, snow
or rain kept Mr. Mollard away
from the morning service.
Mr. Mollard was the oldest
perhaps the last of Grand Bend
pioneer sons,

tice for a weekend school for
UCW members to be held Friday

tioned that Mrs. Melvin Meads,

Roy Dennis, who met with an
accident two weeks ago and suf-
fered injury to his back, has
been a patient in South Huron
Hospital since but is improving
