The pee wee house league play-
offs started Saturday morning
and the big upset of the season
was the Seals defeating the Pen-
guins 5-0. Goalie Danny Brint-
nell had to be sharp to keep the
Penguins off the score sheet as
they had many good chances to
score.
Paul Robinson with two goals
to his credit led the Seals Scor-
ing parade with single tallies
going to Doug Fairbairn, steVen
Willert and Ricky Stagg.
The second gariae was a battle
all the way with the Panthers
finally wiotling. 4-3 over the Seals
after being two goals down in the
late stages Of the game.
Goals for the WirinerS Were
stored in single fashion by Tony
MacDonald, Bob Willis, Noel
Skinner and Les Murley. Bill
Hodge scored twice to pace the
Kings while John Wiese added

In women's broomball, Cen-
tralia were again crowned champs
as the result of a 1-0 victory
over SiDHS in the only game
played. Susie MacDonald was the
only scorer of the game,
Seaforth Junior Farmers took
the men's curling title with an
8-3 depisipn over Gord Green,
wood and his SHDHS rink.
In a curling competition con-
fined to school staffs, Centralia
walloped Ridgetown 16-4, Making
up the winning Centralia four-
some were Jim MacDonald, Don
McArthur, Robbie Robichaud and
Doug Jamieson.
A South Huron rink composed
of Trudy Stover, Judy Burke,
Elizabeth Mickle and Carol Lynne
Shapton were successful in taking
the girls curling title.
Other teams taking part in the
day-long event were from Mit-
chell Junior Farmers and Guelph
Agricultural College.
John Clouthier, dean of men at
Ceatralia;reports a very success-
ful day and hopes to make this
an annual affair.
Answer roll by
uses of apples
The roll call "Uses of Apples"
was answered by 12 members
at the meeting of McGillivray
WI held Friday afternoon, Feb-
ruary 23 at the home of Mrs.
Melvin Allison.
The motto "A nation builds on
sinking sand unless its roots
are in the land" was discussed
by Mrs. Les Morley. Mrs. Wes
Lewis, district president, gave
a story on "Mothers of Con-
federation" and also a humorous
reading "What kind of a nut wants
to be 407", a clipping from a
California paper while visiting
there. Mrs. Mac Allison also
read a poem.
Mrs. Mac Allison, citizenship
and education convener, was ap-
pni*d delegate to the officers'
conference in Guelph April 30,
May 1 and 2. A donation was voted
to the 75th anniversary fund of
Macdonald Institute, Guelph.
A contest conducted by Mrs.
Fraser Dixon was won by Mrs.
Parry Thompson. The March
meeting will be held in West
McGillivray Hall, March 20.
