The final Euchre party spon-
sored by the ACW of St. John's-
by-the-Lake Anglican Church,
Grand Bend, to be held before
Lent, took place Thursday even-
ing in the Parish Hall.
The prize winners were; Mrs.
L. Gaudry, Mrs. Henry Green,
Mrs. E. Datars, peter Eisen-
ba.ch and Horace Lake. The guests
were welcomed by Mrs. Ken
Young and Rev. E. Insley. Mrs.
Nola Taylor convened the prizes
and Mrs. Roy Clark, social con»
vener, was in charge of serving
refreshments at the close of the
evening.
WI DONATES TO HOSPITAL
The Grand Bend Women's In-
stitute met Thursday with Mrs.
Allan Parker, health convener in
charge. Mrs. Parker spoke on
drugs which was very interesting
and informative.
Roll call was a famous woman
in the field of medicine. Donations
of jams and jellies were brought
in for South Huron Hospital.
Mrs. Nola Taylor president,
presided for the business. A com-
mittee was named to plan for
the District Annual on May 23
at Grand Bend.
March meeting will be a des-
sert meeting at 2:00 pm. Lunch
was served by Mrs. Elgin Adams,

Clandeboye native
given new position

Rev. G. Burton Hodgson, son
of the late Mr. & Mrs. Eslie
Hodgson, Clandeboye, and a for-
mer member o f St. James
Church, has been appointed to
a new position as Associate Dir-
ector of Administration for the
diocese of Michigan. He was
formerly' associate director of
the program in charge of
Christian education.
He went to the United States
,at the age of 19 as a telegraph
operator for the Grand Trunk
railway in Pontiac. Later he
became accountant for the Pon-
tiac Motor Corporation. He en-
tered the armed services in May
1942 and was discharged in 1946
with the rank of Captain.
He entered Seabury-Western
Seminary, Evanston, 111. and
graduated in 1949. He returned
to St. James church as guest
speaker at the dedication of the
new chapel in September 1958.
He and his wife have two
daughters, Susan 17, and Jane 16,
and live in Birmingham, Mich.
His promotion was announced
by the Rt. Rev, Richard Emrich,
Bishop of the Diocese of Michigan.
HELP STREET LIGHTS
One of the major items of
business at the February meet-
ing of Clandeboye WI held at
the home of Mrs, Alan Hill was
the installation of street lights
in the village, The members
are donating the proceeds from
the sale of tickets on a large
card table toward the project.
Mrs. M. J. Simpson, conven-
er of home economics and health,
took health as her subject and
chose an article on 'allergies' in
which she said all those with
allergies should accept it and
carry any information in regard
to their allergy on their person
at all times. Mrs. J. Donaldson
gave two appropriate readings
to the topic.
Mrs. Hill, district director,
announced the District Annual
to be held at Ailsa Craig, May
21. A letter was read from Mrs.
E. Small, FWIO president, stating
that the Officers Conference
would be held May 1 and 2 at
Guelph.
Mrs, Ray Cunningham judged
a contest on poetry writing which
was won by Mrs. PeterGroen-
ewegen. Mrs. Donaldson won the
hostess prize, Mrs. Cunningham
assisted the hostess.
COMMUNITY EUCHRE
A community euchre was held
Friday night at Neil's School
when a draw 'was made for a
centennial quilt donated by St.
Peter's CWL of Clandeboyeb It
was won by Mrs. Wilfred Dixon
