hold various programs
District woman
dies in hospital
Mrs, Ernest Whitehouse, 49,
of RR 2, Kippen, passed away in
Seeth Huron Hospital, Exeter,
Sunday, February 18. She was the
former Ida Laura Trerneer.
She was a charter member of
Kippen East WI and held the
office of president and other
offices, a member of Hensall
United Church and UCW.
Surviving are her husband and
one daughter Donna at home;
four sister s, Mrs. Stewart
(Grace) Pepper, Mrs. John (Vera)
Jackson, Seaforth; Mrs. Fraser
(Gladys) Furlong, Arthur; Mrs.
Charles (Mary) Martin, Parry
Sound; five brothers, John and
Wilfred, Seaforth; Allan and Wil-
son, RR 2, Kippen; Wilbur, Dur-
ham.
Public funeral services were
held from Bonthron Funeral
Chapel Tuesday, February 20,
conducted by Rev. Harold Currie.
Burial was in Hens al 1 Union
cemetery.

for Miss Pfaff
Miss Elizabeth (Emma) Pfaff
passed away in Ingersoll Thurs-
day evening, February 15, in her
81st year.
Surviving are a number of
nieces and nephews.
Service for Miss Pfaff was
held Saturday, February 17, at
Hensall Mausoleum with Rev.
Harold F. Currie in charge. In-
terment was in Hensall Union
cemetery. Bonthron Funeral
Home was in charge of arrange-
ments.

is a guest with Mrs. George Hess.

will quietly celebrate their 40th
wedding anniversary with their

the February meeting of the
Presbyterian Arnold Circle by
President Mrs. Jim Bell. The
worship period took the theme
"Judge Not". A skit entitled
"Hasty in Judgement" was act-
ed out by Mrs. Robert Bell,
Mrs. Mildred Bell and Mrs. Lloyd
Mousseau following the theme of
the worship study.
It was voted to have a speaker
and film at the Easter meeting.
Valentine boxes were delivered
on February 14 and the members
enjoyed chatting with the 18 pat-
ients in the Queensway Nursing
Home.
A contest and lunch enjoyed
in the new addition of the school
rooms closed the meeting.
UCW QUILT
The February meeting of the
Chiselhurst UCW took the form
of a quilting and pot luck dinner.
The theme of the worship ser-
vice was "Prayer" taken by Mrs.
Gibson assisted by Mrs. R. Tay-
lor Jr. mrs. Russell Brock re-
ported on the Presbyterial held
in Seaforth. Mrs. George Boa
contributed a poem to the pro-
gram.
Mrs. Ben Stoneman and Mrs.
Percy Harris presented a chap-
ter from the study book onJapan.

St. Paul's ACW met Thursday,
February 15 at the home of Mrs.
Mary Taylor.
Mrs. H. A. Seegmiller read a
chapter from the study book
"Right to a Future", dealing with
home to honor her on her 80th
birthday and to present her with
gifts. A social hour and a smor-
gasbord supper rounded out the
evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Klungel,
who operate the Queensway Nurs-
ing Home, have purchased the
property of Mr. Andrew Bilky,
corner of Queen and Nelson
Street.

sleigh outing
Due to cold weather Guide
Captain Mrs. Jean Turner had
to do some quick thinking. She
engaged Mr. George Beer and Mr.
John Sangster in taking the Hen-
sall Guide Company on a one
hour's tour sleigh ride around
the village. Afterwards they en-
joyed doughnuts and chocolate
during which they discussed the
following meeting which Division
Commissioner Miss McMillen
will attend.
A thank you was extended to
Mrs. T. Lavender and. Mrs. E.
Rowe for helping with the light
lunch and also to the two men
who lent their time and very
unusual transportation.

Mrs. Ron Wareing was hostess
for the meeting of Hensall Kin-
ette Club Wednesday, February
14, with all members answering
the roll call. Plans were final-
ized for their trip to the Ice
Capades February 28. Vice
presidents' night will be held
March 13.
Hensall Kinettes will be join-
ing the Mental Retardation As-
sociation which was formed in
Exeter recently.
The raffle brought by Mrs.
James Hyde was won by presi-
dent Mrs. Robt Caldwell who
presided over the meeting.

short business period when the
secretary read communications
revealing that the branch sponsor
a birthday party at Huronview in
May, and one at the Blue Water
Rest Home in September.
A letter was read from Miss
Sharon Carroll, home economist
for Huron accounting "Farmers
Week at Guelph University Feb-
ruary 19 to 23, when the theme is
"Farmers of Tomorrow". A
special day for women will be
held Friday in Harcourt Mem-
orial United Church, Guelph, with
the topic "Family & Community
Relations". A bus may be char-
tered for the trip.
Mrs. Robert Simpson, this
branch's representative on the
Retarded Children's Association
reported on the recent encourag-
ing meeting. The interest
is growing. Membership fees for
WI branches is $25.00. Mrs. Carl
Payne reported on the sale of the
brochures, History of Hensall, of
which there are a number of books
available.

Elimville United Church annual
meeting was held in the church
basement preceded by a pot luck
supper Friday evening, February
16.
In the election of officers Mr.
William Routly and Mr. Horace
Delbridge, who have served on
Boards of the Church for 33
years, were replaced on the Ses-
sion by Mrs. Jackson Woods and
Mr. Squire Herdman. Other ses-
sion members are Delmer Skin-
ner, Gilbert Johns, Howard Johns
and Howard Pym.
William Allen, FranklinSkin-
ner and Bev Parsons were elect-
ed to the Board of Stewards along
with other members Ross Skin-
ner, Squire Herdman, John
Batten, Lewis Johns, Lorne El-
ford, and Gordon Ford. Mrs.
Howard Pym will represent the
UCW on the Board.
Trustees elected were Elson
Lynn, John Ridley, Philip Johns,
Harold Bell and Amos Herdman.
