Hawks get win and tie
PUBLIC NOTICE
To all owners or harbourers of dogs in the town
of Exeter
Bylaw No. 2, 1959 Amended by Bylaw No. 11, 1965
states that all owners, possessors or harbourers of
dogs shall not permit their animals to run at large at
anytime unless under complete control of a respon-
sible person, by the use of a leash or other device.
ALSO
All owners, possessors or harbourers of dogs must
procure a license for such animal, regardless of age.
These licenses are now due and may be obtained at
the clerk's office,

were still ahead 7-6 after forty
minutes of action.
After Les Teplicky put the
home club in front before two
minutes had elapsed in the first
period the Exeter youngsters
came on strong to score three
consecutive goals and they were
never behind from then on.
Larry Laye, Craig Davidson
and Jim Hayter were on thefiring
end of the first three Exeter
counters. Gord Mitchell came
back with a score to put Alvin-
ston back within striking distance
only to have Scott Burton up his
club's lead to 4-2 before the
period ended.
In the middle frame Davidson
and Burton each scored their
second goal of the night while
Pete Lawson notched his first
to up the Exeter total to seven.
Ray Morgan scored twice while
Doug MacLean and Bob MacLach-
lan added singles to put Alvinston
within one of tying the score
late in the second session.
MacLean scored his second
goal of the game at 10:56 of the
third period to tie the score at
7-'7 to set the stage for the

Dennis Morrissey scored his
second goal of the night at 9:16
of the third to put the clubs on
even terms. A pair of quick
goals from the stick of Scott
Burton, his second and third of
the night put the juniors in front
6-4.
Fred Lamb scored Crediton's
get-close goal at 16:02 on a play
started by defenceman Joe Regier
and set the stage for Morrissey's
equalizing marker.
JUST IN TIME
Any hockey win is important
but when one is achieved in the
last second of play a little extra
excitement is added.
This was the case in Alvinston
Thursday night as Bill Fairbairn
banged the puck into the Alvin-
ston net at 19:59 to give the
Exeter Hawks an 8-'7 victory.
In a free skating, offensive
minded contest each team took
turns in scoring and keptthe out-
come of the game In doubt right
to the final buzzer.
The Hawks moved in front 4-2

February 10, is Minor Hockey
Day in Exeter. Members pf all
the local minor hockey teams
are now selling tickets for the
day for one dollar. The holder
of a ticket can come and go as
he or she pleases to see any or
all of the ten hockey games
throughout the day,
Included in this package deal
is an evening exhibition game
between the Exeter Junior Hawks
and the Crediton Tigers. These
same two clubs .played a 6-6
tie before a large and enthus-
iastic crowd last Friday night.
Players and fans alike will
agree another game is neces-
sary to see which is the better
team.
When the future NHL player
calls on you, be generous and buy
a ticket but also come to the
arena sometime during the day
to add your vocal support.
In house league play last week,
the Penguins and Panthers played
to a 1-1 tie with Mike Hogan
getting the lone Penguin counter
and Brian Taylor replying for the
Panthers.
The last place Kings finally
made the most of their scoring
opportunities and defeated the
Seals 4-3. Bryan Tuckey took
care of most of the scoring for
the Kings with a hat trick per-
formance while John Vriese add-
ed a single. John Waerth, Paul
Robinson and Ricky Stagg were
the marksmen for the Seals.
No decision was reached in
novice hockey as Boston and the
Rangers battled to a 1-1 tie.
Perry Pooley scored for the
Rangers with Howard Schenk
knotting the count for the Rang-
ers.
Boston_won their second game
whirlwind finish of the Hawks.
With less than five seconds
remaining in the game, Larry
Willert drove a long shot from
the blueline that was stopped,
centre Scott Burton took another
shot that was blocked but the puck
bounced to the side of the net
where Bill Fairbairn was lying
after being knocked down by a
defenceman and he reached over
to bang the puck into the net to
put the game in the bag for the
Hawks.

GAMER GETS TWO
Denton Gasser notched a pair
of goals to lead the local midgets
to their shut-out win over Lain-
both 6-0. Adding the balance
in single style were Randy Par-
spns, Larry Haugh, Lars Dalen
d Ronnie Lindenfield. John
Hayter was in the Exeter nets
and held the visitors off the
score sheet,
Brian Taylor scored the lone
squirt goal in the Exeter loss to
Stoneybrook.
The Exeter juveniles travelled
to Dresden Saturday night and
were on the short end of a 5-3
score to the Dresden juveniles.
Cliff Webber, Dennis Passmore
and Ron Durand were the Exeter
goal getters.

Although the South Huron senior
girls basketball team failed to
win their twp starts on their
home floor Saturday, they did
give the fans lots of excitement.
