After Les Teplicky put the home club in front before two minutes had elapsed in the first period the Exeter youngsters came on strong to score three consecutive goals and they were never behind from then on. Larry Laye, Craig Davidson and Jim Hayter were on thefiring end of the first three Exeter counters. Gord Mitchell came back with a score to put Alvin- ston back within striking distance only to have Scott Burton up his club's lead to 4-2 before the period ended. In the middle frame Davidson and Burton each scored their second goal of the night while Pete Lawson notched his first to up the Exeter total to seven. Ray Morgan scored twice while Doug MacLean and Bob MacLach- lan added singles to put Alvinston within one of tying the score late in the second session. A pair of quick goals from the stick of Scott Burton, his second and third of the night put the juniors in front 6-4. Fred Lamb scored Crediton's get-close goal at 16:02 on a play started by defenceman Joe Regier and set the stage for Morrissey's equalizing marker. JUST IN TIME Any hockey win is important but when one is achieved in the last second of play a little extra excitement is added. This was the case in Alvinston Thursday night as Bill Fairbairn banged the puck into the Alvin- ston net at 19:59 to give the Exeter Hawks an 8-'7 victory. Members pf all the local minor hockey teams are now selling tickets for the day for one dollar. These same two clubs .played a 6-6 tie before a large and enthus- iastic crowd last Friday night. Players and fans alike will agree another game is neces- sary to see which is the better team. In house league play last week, the Penguins and Panthers played to a 1-1 tie with Mike Hogan getting the lone Penguin counter and Brian Taylor replying for the Panthers. The last place Kings finally made the most of their scoring opportunities and defeated the Seals 4-3. Bryan Tuckey took care of most of the scoring for the Kings with a hat trick per- formance while John Vriese add- ed a single. John Waerth, Paul Robinson and Ricky Stagg were the marksmen for the Seals. No decision was reached in novice hockey as Boston and the Rangers battled to a 1-1 tie. Perry Pooley scored for the Rangers with Howard Schenk knotting the count for the Rang- ers. Boston_won their second game whirlwind finish of the Hawks. The Exeter juveniles travelled to Dresden Saturday night and were on the short end of a 5-3 score to the Dresden juveniles.
