The first pee wee game of the
year prodnced a 3-3 tie between
the Penguins and Seals. John
Muller scored three times to
account for all the Penguin mark
ers while Paul Robinson fired
two scores and Danny Kerslake
notched a single to complete the
Seals scoring.
The Panthers have taken. over
first place in the pee wee house
league by virtue of Saturday's
5-1 win over the Kings. Noel
Skinner and Bob Willis each scor-
ed twice to lead the winning attack
with John. Gould firing the odd
counter. John Vriese fired the
only Kings goal to spoil Jim
Wildfong's bid for a shutout.
Boston had little trouble with
the Rangers in novice play as
they won by a score of 6-0. Wes
Rhude turned in a hat trick per-
formance, Danny McIver scored
twice and Barry Campbell, the
smallest player on the ice, found
the range on one occasion to ac-
count for the Boston goal total.
In bantam house league, Boston
downed Chicago 4-2. All the goals
were scored in single fashion with
Robert Ryckman, Pete Glover,
Randy Gilfillan and Danny Cal-
cott doing the honors for the
Boston six with Robbie Linden-
field and Randy Preszcator scor-
ing for Chicago.

In the second game, Larry
Skinner was again the scoring
star firing a hat trick while Dale
Skinner and John Morgan each
notched a pair of goals and single-
tons were nabbed by Gary Walt-
ers, Gord Hera, Doug Rhude and
Cliff Webber.
Bob Rowe and Doug Taylor each
scored twice for the juveniles.

St. Patrick's CWL members,
Lucan held their monthly meet-
ing January 3 in the school gym-
torium, but owing to road and
weather conditions the attend-
ance was small. The main item
of business was the decision to
help educate a foreign priest in
his own country.
PENTECOSTAL
The two Sundays the pastor,
the Rev. Gordon McDonald and
family were south, Mr. George
Eizenga was in charge of the
services, but Sunday the pastor
was home and had a communion
service.
DISTRICT CONFERENCE
The District Quarterly COri,
ferenCe was held in the Liman
church Saturday at 10 am. Clergy
and delegates numbering 40, were
present from Windsor, Chatham,
'Thainestrille, Bethel and Lucan.

Dart Sharks
move ahead
For the first time in the cur-
rent season, one club has taken
a good first place lead in the
Exeter Legion mixed dart league.
The Dart Sharks picked up the
maximum five point total as regu-
lar play resumed Friday and up-
ped their season total to 45. The
Turtles, who have been climbing
steadily In the last couple of
weeks, slipped into second place
on the strength of their 41 point
total, a single point ahead of the
Hairpins.
The Cleaners and Itchy Four
follow very closely finishing out
the top five in the popular Friday
night league with respective point
totals of 39 and 38.
Only one change shows in the
individual statistics and that has
Pauline Brintnell taking over as
best in the ladies' high single de-
partment with a top score of 133.
In the same men's section a
four-way tie exists between Lar-
ry Estey, Gerald Lawson Bill
Smith and Bob Wragg with iden-
tical scores of 140. In another
deadlock, Jake Lindenfield, Bill
Smith and John Link each have 20

weatherman, the Batik Boys have
taken over undisputed possession
of first place in the Exeter and
district Ree hockey league.
The Bankers outscored the Old
Timers 11.-8 in the first half of
Thursday's regular twin bill for
their sixth win of the yearupping
their point total to 12.
The second game between .the
Crediton Tigers and Graham and
Graham was postponed because of
adverse weather conditiens, leaV,
ing the Crecliton team in second
place with 10 points, but with a
game in hand.
Bob Jones of the Bankers con-
tinues as the leagne's top goal
getter with a wide margin over
his rivals. Jones has scored 23
times in seven games and holds
a 10 goal edge over Fred. Wells,
the playing coach of the Old.
Timers. Pete McFalls of the
Bank Boys and Ron Bogart of
the Old Timers are deadlocked
for third spot with 10 goals
apiece.
In tonight's regular action, the
Bank Boys and Graham and Gra-
ham meet at 8 o'clock while
Crediton and the Old Timers
Men battle
for honors
It took a perfect win record to
gain supremacy in regular play in
the first draw of the Exeter
men's curling club. A rink head-
ed by Bill MacLean won eight
straight games to end up with a
point total of 85.
Only two points back on the
strength of seven wins and one
tie came a rink skipped by Pete
Raymond.
A new playoff method has been
established this year in which the
top 16 rinks of the complete entry
of 38 are meeting in one-game
knockouts to provide an overall
champion.
The top team is meeting the
ninth place finisher, the runner-
up entry is, facing the tenth place
club and so on down the line in
the first round.
The opening elimination rounds
were played Tuesday night and
the final is expected to be com-
pleted sometime on Saturday.
Other members of the winning
MacLean rink are Dr. Harvey
Cowen, Winston Shapton and Doug
Dowson while Dwayne Tinney,
Harry Snell and Glenn McNabb
complete the Raymond skipped
roster.
