The Christmas meeting of
Coopers. UCW was held at the
home of Mrs. Austin Timms with
14 members and two visitors
present, Mrs. Dave Holland, Mrs.
Fred Parkinson and Miss Flor-
ence Jamieson were in charge of
the proeram.
Mrs. Holland presided over
the devotional part of the meet-
ing with Miss Jamieson assisting.
Christmas hymns were sung with
Mrs, Nelson Baker at the piano.
Mrs. Fred Parkinson had
charge of ',Symbols of Advent"
with several members taking
part. A candle lighting service
was held with Mrs. Jim Mc-
Naughton, Miss Kate Jamieson,
Mrs. Otto Riemer, Mrs. Wil-
bert McNeight and Mrs. Duncan
McNaughton lighting the candles.
A solo by Mrs. Wm Spence was
much enjoyed.
Christmas readings were given
by Mrs. Oliver Baker and Mrs.
Ellis Strahan. A playlet entitled
"No Room in the Inn" was given
by Mrs. Fred Parkinson, Mrs.
Margaret Baker, Mrs. Jim Mc-
Naughton, Mrs. Ellis Strahan and
Mrs. Robt Elston.
Mrs. 0. Baker, the president,
had charge of the business and
welcomed former members and
warmly expressed her gratitude
and thanks to all of the ladies
for their fine cooperation through
out the two years. Two crib
quilts and one dozen pair of
booties have been sent out to
the Mission Hospital at Hazelton,
B.C.
An exchange of Christmas gifts
took place after which lunch was
served by the hostess and com-
mittee.
The January meeting is to be
held at the home of Mrs. Wilbert
McNeight, the roll call to be
answered by paying fees.

Clarence Ludwig which was held

Thursday, December 14 an en-
joyable social evening was held in
Shipka Community Centre spon-
sored by the east group.
Andy Antippos, US consul, his
wife and mother-in-law showed
some interesting slides onJapan.
' Cards and bingo were played
after which bags of candy and
oranges were distributed to all
community children.

The UCW held the Christmas
meeting Wednesday evening, De-
cember 13, With the exception of

The Christmas worship ser-
vice was conducted by Mrs. Jack
Galloway and Mrs, Lorne Hodge
assisted by six ladies of their
group. Christmas carols were
played by Larry and Gary Gib-
son on their accordions and
carols were sung in both Dutch
and English by Mrs. William
Amerongen and Mrs. Wynja of
Sea.forth.
The president, Mrs, Cliff Ken-
ney, took charge of the business
session. It was decided to send
the White Gift donations to CARE.
At the close of the meeting gifts
were exchanged and the names
of mystery sisters revealed.
Hostesses were Mrs. Jack Gal-
loway, Mrs. Douglas Warren,
Mrs. R. Molitor and Mrs. W.
Mack.
JOIN CHURCH
At the EUB Church, Sunday
morning seven young people took
the vows of church membership.
They were Ricky Bowers, Brenda
Fahner, Darrel Finkbeiner, Dan-
ny Haugh, Barbara Pfaff, Kath-
erine Ratz and Kathie Schenk.
UC CHRISTMAS PARTY
The United Church held their
Christmas program Friday even-
ing, December 15. Carol singing,
skits, exercises, recitations, dia-
logues and duets were enjoyed.
Santa came and distributed
gifts from a well-laden tree.

The Salvation Army Citadel,
Guelph was decorated with stand-
ards of yellow and white pom-
poms and chrysanthemums for
the recent marriage of Nancy
Isobel Meadows and Thomas
Bruce Rockola.
The bride is the only daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Mead-
ows, Rockwood. The groom is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. George
Rockola, Guelph, and grandson
of Mr. Sylvanus Cann, Bayfield,
formerly of Exeter.
Major Brightwell conducted the
double ring ceremony. Wedding
music was played by Mrs. A.
Brown of Guelph. Mrs. Susan
Cann, Exeter, aunt of the groom,
sang during the signing of the
church register, accompanied on
the organ by her daughter Kathy.
The bride entered the church
on the arm of her father in a
floor-length, full-skirted gown
of chiffon and lace, scalloped
at the hem line and featuring a
chiffon over-skirt. The lace bod-
ice had a scalloped neckline and
lily point sleeves. Her headdress
was three fabric orchids trimmed
with rhinestones, holding a four
tiered elbow-length veil. She car-
ried a cascade bouquet of yellow

Miss Marion Victoria Horn,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
Bern, Exeter, became the bride
of David George Lovie, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Loviem Grand
Bend, in a ceremony performed
by Rev. S. E. Lewis in James
Street United Church on Friday,
December 1 at 7 pm.
Mrs. Harold Davis, Kirkton,
aunt of the bride, played the
wedding music.
Given in marriage by her father
the bride chose a gown of white
net over taffeta with satin trim
on neckline and three-quarter
bell sleeves. A circlet of white
nylon roses held her bouffant
shoulder-length veil and she car-
ried a cascade of red roses with
white mums.
Miss Anna Bern, Exeter, was
maid of honor wearing a powder
blue metallic bonded crepe gown
featuring a low neckline and A-
line skirt. She carried a cres-
cent of red carnations and silver
pine.
Ed Lovie, Grand Bend, was
groomsman for his brother and
William Mollard ushered guests.
The reception was held at the
home of the bride's grandmother,
Mrs. George Davis. The bride's
mother received guests in a two-
piece dark navy suit with corsage
of pink miniature carnations. The
groom's mother chose a powder
blue suit with pink miniature
carnation corsage.
The bride travelled in a blue
and white bonded jersey knit
Former resident weds at CFB Esquimalt
Miss Marilyn Ann Riddell, daughter ofSgt. and Mrs. Lyall Riddell, Victoria, B.C. was married Saturday,
December 9 in the RC chapel of Christ the King, CFB Esquimalt, The bride's two sister, Kathy and Judy
Riddell, were two of the bridesmaids and two brothers, Ray and Chris Riddell were ushers. The couple
will take up residence in Esquimalt where the groom is stationed at Officers Fleet School. The Riddell
family lived at PMQ Centralia for several years.

Mrs. Mary Meadows, Rock-
wood, sister of the groom, was
matron-of-honor. Miss Pearl
Rockola, Guelph, sister of the
groom, Mrs. Susan Meadows,
Rockwood, Mrs. Shirley Mead-
ows, Kitchener, sisters-in-law
of the bride, were bridesmaids.
The attendants were gowned alike
in floor-length capri blue chiffon
over satin dresses which featured
lace bodices and chiffon trains
accented by a chiffon bow at the
back neckline. Their headdresses
were capri blue fabric flowers
with sparkle leaves and four-
tiered shoulder length veils. The
matron-of-honor carried a cas-
cade bouquet of white carnations
and yellow sweetheart roses, the
briclesmaids,cascade bouquets of
yellow and white carnations.
Stewart Rockola, Guelph, was
groomsman for his brother.
Ushers were Carl and Floyd
Meadows, Rockwood, Vernon
Meadows, Kitchener, all brothers
of the bride.
A reception was held in the
parish Hall, Rockwood.
For a honeymoon trip to the
United States, the bride chose a
blushing pink, long sleeved dress
complimented by a mauve orchid
corsage.
Out of town guests travelled
from Exeter, London, Ancaster,
St. Marys, Clifford, Lucknow and
Bayfield.
