BURT Well another week has gone by and old St. Nick must be real busy these days, with Christmas just two weeks away. The Ilderton minor hockey boys must have had the spirit Friday night as they hosted the Lambeth teams, in pee wee it was Lambeth over Ilderton 3-1, in bantam it was Lambeth 12 Ilderton 0 score and its midget, in a rough hard fought game it was 4-0 in favor of Lambeth. In the Shamrock novice league Saturday afternoon we had the first double shut out of the seas- on as Lucan and Stoneybrook fought to a scoreless tie, In the second game it was Lambeth 4, Dorchester 1. In the third game it was Exeter 7 Strathroy 3 and the final game betweentwo Huron East teams the (B) team walloped the (A) team 7-0, confidentially I think the (B) team had an over age goalie. We had a skating party in here Sunday night with a club from London, with all the ice and slippery roads, they had a very good turn out I would say, some of these people were really enjoying themselves. This Friday night the Lucan Irish in minor hockey host the Lambeth teams. Don't forget these boys put on a very good display of hockey, and, in most cases, sportsmanship. See you at the games. ARTHUR AVERY Funeral services for Arthur Avery 67, of Sarnia, were held in Sarnia at 3 pm Monday, Dec. 11. Among the survivors is his brother William of Lucan, who with members of his family at- tended the funeral. A modern gal is a vision at night and real sight in the morning. Entertain audience at Centralia This Korean quartet sang native folk songs and a couple of well-known tunes from this country when they performed at the Korean Night party at Centralia Agriculture School, Tuesday. Their rendition of Old Black Joe and Silent Night was done inboth English and Korean. It was over 24 years since the first farm forum was organized in February 1943 and it has carried on ever since. It will be called Fairfield Friendly Folk in the future with their ob- jective, both social and educa- tional. There were 26 in attend- ance, Guest speaker was Rev. J. W, Steven of Egmondville United Church. He told of his first Christmas in the ministry. He was a miner by trade but in six months' time his life was chang- ed in direction. He was accepted at White River and the picture he drew of his trip north, his surroundings when he got there with temperature often 70 de- grees below zero, the clothes not warm enough, all told of the hardships borne. He certainly benefited from his experiences. He was introduced by Joe White and thanked by Mrs. Herman Powe. The next meeting will be at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Well- ington Heist. SIE MEWLING COMMUTOR PREMIUM President Lion Ian Dallas pre- sided at the dinner meeting of the Lucan Lions in the Anglican Church basement Dec. 4. Guests included 13 members of North London Lions, four from Park- hill Club, President Pat drudge of the Lucan Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, H. B. Lang- ford of the village council and Reeve Wilson Hodgins of the Biddulph Council. The guest speaker following the dinner was Howard Greenlee from the Department of High- ways, London. Mr. Greenlee gave an illustrated talk on the build- ing of bridges and highways. Door prizes went to Lucan Lions, Larry Hotson and Gary McFalls, and to Parkhill Lion Vines. As no business was conducted Probably no Lucanite is doing more to relieve the house short- age than Mr. Bernard Avery. The recent purchase of the home of the late Mrs. Pearl Murdy, on Alice St. makes the seventh home Mr. Avery has purchased and renovated into a modern residence. What Lucan really needs are small apartments for Sr, citiz- ens, who are no longer able to care for large homes, so Mr. Avery is converting his latest purchase, into two apartments. The front will contain entrance hall, living room, kitchen and bath with two bedrooms, closets and large hall upstairs. The rear apartment will contain large liv- ing room, kitchen, bath and two bedrooms, all downstairs, So acute is Lucan's house shortage, that the front apart- ment is already rented. alt;141141ItslItlit lllllll illtittlittitltilmll111(411141041;111 67 METEOR Montcalm 2-door Hardtop, V-8 auto., P.S. & P.B., whitewalls, radio, full wheel discs, white with black vinyl interior A41964 64 FAIRLANE 500 V8 automatic, radio E79545 64 COMET 6 cyl. standard, like new A63877 63 MERCURY 4-door Sedan E82148 61 CHEV IMPALA 2-door Hardtop, V-8 auto,, power pack, radio, new tires E78099 61 AUSTIN 46724H Report winners of area euchre PENTECOSTAL In place of the regular Saturday evening Young People's meeting, three carloads went to Thames- vine to hear the "Couriers", a singing group from Harriburg, Penn.
