SANTA
Clandeboye Anglicans
choose new executive
By BILL GIBSON
Well here it is November and
I am dreaming of a White Christ-
ma.s this year. It sure doesn't
seem like Christmas coming on
so soon here with all the beauti-
ful weather we are having and
summer on its way. Although the
stores have started their decor-
ation, just seems funny to see
them.
Temperatures have been in the
80's during the days here and do
drop fairly rapidly in the evenings
and one needs a cardigan or
jumper on. The roses are in full
bloom now and they are really
beautiful along with the poppies,
rhohodendrons and such like
spring flowers. The people here
really go in for gardening and
keeping their lawns and gardens
beautiful.
Have been taking advantage of
the good weather down here now
and do manage to get out and do
a day's sun bathing on Sundays
and have managed to get myself
a nice tan. Usually spend Sundays
doing this and then come back
and go to church in the evenings
along with my friend. Spent the
day at Burrinjack Dam and this
is one of the larger irrigation
and water conservation dams as
there are several of such dams
in this area. The water is very
low at present as we just haven't
had the rain to keep up the level
asked by Bishop Luxton to attend
the first meeting of the chapter
of West Middlesex at St. John
Church in Strathroy, Dec. 10.
A short service will be at 1:00
o'clock at St. James so the Rec-
tor, Wardens, Vestry clerk,
delegates to Synod and substi-
tute can attend the service in
Strathroy.
On
SATURDAY
DEC. 16
At
2:00 P.M.
and this of course puts the danger
of fire up as the paddocks are
not as green and alive as they
should be for this time of year.
They announce on the radio each
day on what the fire danger is
for the day and as you drive
along the roads there are signs
with which they have an arrow
on them and it is placed at either
low, moderate, high or very high
danger and these are also changed
from day to day. Apparently from
what I can gather from the people
here the gam trees are very
highly inflammable and as they
burn they seem to explode sending
flames on to the others so you
can see why so much care must
be taken.
The government takes over a
considerable amount of land
which they look after for the con-
servation of wild life and native
flowers and one isn't allowed to
remove anything from these
areas and if caught there is a very
high fine. This is a good thing
as a lot of the native animals
are being destroyed and soon
some of them would become ex-
tinct. There are very few Koala
Bears left in the country and
about the only place they can be
seen is in the Zoos, but I under-
stand that the government has
been trying to build the popu-
lation of them up now by raising
them so far and then putting
them out in special areas to go
back into their natural habitation.
I have been fortunate myself
here in picking up a part-time
job as wages are on the low side
and in this way it helps to have
a little extra for getting around.
I would like to take this op-
portunity of wishing all of the
fine people back in Hensall and
area a very Merry Christmas
and a Happy New Year. I will
be thinking of you all while I
spend the day on the coast, as
I plan on going to Sydney for a
few days then.
