Exeter's four minor clubs par-
ticipating in the Shamrock league
regular schedule over the past
week came up with an even split,
with two wins and the same num-
ber of ties and losses in six
starts.
In Wednesday's weekly triple-
header at the arena against
Lucan, the local pee wees were
on the short end of a 7-2 count,
the bantams fashioned an 11-0
shutout and the midgets gained
a 3-3 draw.
Travelling to Strathroy on
Monday, the pee wees were again
on the short end of the score
this time 3-2 while the bantams
were victorious 8-1.
In the only squirt action of the
week, the Exeter boys played a
2-2 tie with Lambeth in Lucan,
Saturday.
STOVER NETS TWO
Perry Stover was the top pee
wee scorer over the week's play,
getting a goal in each game.
Paul Robinson notched the other
Exeter counter against Lucan
while John Muller was the ad-
ditional marksman in Strathroy.
that was in an exhibition Con-
test.
The Hawks took on the Zurich
Flyers of the district WOAA
intermediate grouping as part
of the festivities in connection
with Friday's official re-opening
of the Babe Siebert Memorial
arena and Zurich Community
Centre,
The local juniors jumped into
an early four-goal lead and were
able to stay well in front the
rest of the way to post an 8.4
victory,
Captain Larry Willert started
the Hawks off with a successful
slap shot from the blueline in
the first minute of play. Suc-
cessive scores from the sticks
of Bill Fairbairn, Bruce For-
rest and Rick McDonald put the
Exeterites ahead 4-0 before Jim
Consitt broke the scoring ice for
Zurich.
McDonald with his second tally
of the game and Scott Burton's
solo rush upped the Exeter lead
to 6-1, At this point the Flyers
perked up a bit with Bill Hoff-
man, Bob Merner and former
Hawk coach Earl Wagner find-
ing the scoring mark.
Grant Walker scored for the
Hawks midway through the third
period and Fairbairn added his
second of the night in the dying
moments of the game to com-
plete the scoring.
The Hawks get back to Blue-
picking up two -wins.
Larry Bourne was the top
scorer in the 7-2 winover Lucan,
scoring three times while Allan
Parsons, Ronnie Lindenfield and
Randy Preszcator notched two
goals each and were added by
Brad Klumpp and Randy QUM-
lan.
prerscator took over as the
top scorer against Strathroy with
a hat trick performance. Parsons
was close behind with a two
goal effort and Klumpp, Bourne
and Robert Ryckrean chipped in
with single counters.
MIDGETS TIE AGAIN
The midgets, coached by Lorne
Haugh, gained their fourth tie of
the year, a 3-3 stalemate against
Lambeth.
Tom Prout tallied twice to
lead the Exeter attack and Bob
Rowe accounted for the third
marker.
The Exeter squirts coached
by Jim pinder and Murray Moore
came up with a good team effort
in gaining the 2-2 tie against
Lambeth in Lucan, Saturday.
Brian Taylor scored both
Exeter goals. The locals meet
Strathroy at the Lucan arena,
Saturday afternoon at 2.30 in
their next Shamrock action.
