Ambulance plan
raises questions
Private ambulance operators
in the area aren't sure where
they stand following the decision
last week by Huron County coun-
cil to enter into an agreement
with the Ontario department of
health to provide ambulance ser-
vice for the county.
Harry Hoffman, Dashwood,
said he didn't know what his po-
sition would be, but expected
to meet with a health department
official this week to discuss the
matter.
John Berry, county clerk, in-
dicated this week that private
operators could still apply for a
licence if they wished and he also
indicated some financial ar-
rangements would be worked out
with them.
Berry added he didn't really
know how the system would be
worked out,
Under the agreement, the
county will pay 25 cents per
capita for the service, which
amounts to about $12,500 per
year. The remainder of the
amount comes from the govern-
ment and charges to those who
use the service.
Under the plan, the govern-
ment purchases all the equip-
ment and designate at what lo-
cations the ambulances and at-
tendants will be located.
Mrs. John Hooking convening.
Progressive euchre was en-
joyed and a centennial tea was
served with Mrs, Verna Brooks
and Mrs. Bowman assisting the
hostess.
